Update Java Host Path
If you receive a Failed to query response after clicking the
Test
button, it means that you have specified the wrong Java version during the probe installation wizard.
You can fix the connection by exiting the probe GUI and opening the Raw Configure tool for the probe.
Follow these steps
:
  1. Select the probe and open
    Raw Configure
    .
    The Raw Configure dialog appears.
You can also select Raw Configure from the Admin Console.
  2. Select the properties folder in the navigation pane.
  3. Delete the java_home key.
  4. Click the
    Apply

button and exit the Raw Configure dialog.
  5. Launch the probe in the Infrastructure Manager (IM).
    The installation wizard displays again.
  6. Provide the path of the correct Java version.
Control JVM Heap Memory Size
You can create keys to control value of the heap memory size that is used while running the probe. The heap is the area where the Java objects reside. The heap size impacts the JVM performance and thus, the performance of Java application. Setting the heap size gives you a controlled environment where you get a good heap size right from the start.
You must create the keys for the functionality to work as required. Do not use the default keys located in the startup hierarchy to control the memory size.
Follow these steps:

  1. Select the probe in the IM and press the
    Shift
     key.
  2. Right-click and select
    Raw Configure
    .
    The
    Raw Configure
    dialog appears.
You can also select Raw Configure from the Admin Console.
  3. Select
     properties
in the left pane and click
    New Section
    button.
    The
    New Section
     dialog appears.
  4. Enter the section name as
    java_options
     and click
    OK
    .
    The
    java_options
    folder is created under
    properties
    folder.
  5. Select the
    java_options
     folder and click
    New Key
    .
    The
    New Key
     dialog appears.
  6. Enter the first key name as
    min
     and value as
    -Xms64m.
The min key is created. The key defines the value of initial and minimum heap memory sizes to be used by the probe.
  7. Enter the second key name as
    max
     and value as
    -Xmx255m
    .
The max key is created. The key defines the value of the maximum heap memory size to be used by the probe.
  8. Click the
    Apply
button and run the probe again.
The probe uses the set limit for heap size.
