CA APM Release 9.6.0
This section of the Release Notes gives an overview of the new and enhanced features of 9.6.
For information on the enhancements that were made to the CA Cross-Enterprise Application Performance Management, see the
Release Notes
 for that product.
Deep Transaction Trace Visibility
You can now view deep transaction trace components within a transaction trace session without the use of ProbeBuilder Directives (PBDs).
Deep transaction trace visibility can provide useful details about what is happening within your monitored application. When deep transaction trace visibility is enabled, agents discover and automatically instrument additional methods to provide deep transaction trace components.
These scenarios and guides on the CA APM bookshelf provide more information:
  • How to Analyze Errors and Stalls
  • How to Run and Analyze Transaction Traces
  • How to Configure the Agent for Deep Transaction Trace Visibility
  • CA APM Workstation User Guide
  • CA APM Java Agent Guide
Socket Grouping on the Application Triage Map
Triaging problems in the application triage map can be challenging when large numbers of backend socket components are displayed with frontend application components. With the appropriate user permissions, you can group these backend sockets, so they appear as one named component group. Socket groups help you reduce the number of socket calls and dependencies that are displayed to users in the application triage map.
Creating Socket Groups
Users with permissions to edit the triage map configurations management module can create socket groups. For information about creating socket groups, see the section "How to Group Sockets in the Triage Map" in the CA APM Configuration and Administration Guide.
Using Socket Groups
For information about using socket groups in the triage map, see the scenario "How to Interact with Socket Groups in the Triage Map."
Java 7 Support for the Enterprise Manager
The Enterprise Manager now supports Java 7. Earlier versions of Java are no longer supported.
Transaction Impact Monitor (TIM) as Software
The TIM is now available as software. Because the TIM is no longer a "software appliance", it is easier for you to maintain and upgrade. The TIM System Health page and Machine Settings options were formerly used to monitor the operating system supplied with the TIM software appliance. They are no longer needed and have been removed from the Customer Experience Manager (CEM) user interface.
For information about installing the TIM, see How to Install and Configure TIM Software to Monitor Transactions in the
CA APM Installation and Upgrade Guide
.
Napatech adapters are not supported. CA Technologies is researching support for 3G Napatech drivers that would be made available in a future release.
CA APM Application Behavior Analytics
You can now monitor the Application Behavior Analytics (ABA) Analysis Server in CA APM.
The Application Behavior Analytics technical documentation is now part of the CA APM bookshelf under Guides, IT Administrator, Installation and Configuration.
Note:
If you downloaded CA APM after December 2015, ABA is not available. Team Center provides improved information about application behavior.
Enterprise Manager SOA Property Configuration Change
The com.wily.introscope.soa.deviation.enable property enables the Enterprise Manager to perform calculations that provide deviation metric data. The default configuration has changed to com.wily.introscope.soa.deviation.enable=false. The default setting in 9.5 and earlier versions was true. To change the property setting, see About SOA-specific Enterprise Manager properties in
CA APM for SOA Implementation Guide
.
Support for CA SYSVIEW 13.9 and 14.0
CA Cross-Enterprise APM supports CA SYSVIEW 13.9 and 14.0. The new CTG Transaction tracers are certified and compatible with CA SYSVIEW 13.9 and 14.0.
Template Modifications to Set the Timezone and Export Statement
For the CA Cross-Enterprise APM installation, the STDENV jcl file now includes template information to set the timezone and the export statement.
