Troubleshooting CMDB Visualizer

This article describes troubleshooting steps for CMDB Visualizer issues:
Unable to login to CMDB Visualizer
Problem
: Unable login into CMDB Visualizer Interface URL with valid credentials when value of “vizserver” is not in the same format in the casm.conf file: <NX_ROOT>\bopcfg\www\CATALINA_BASE_VIZ\webapps\CMDBVisualizer\viz-ux\conf\casm.conf.js.
Before accessing the CMDB URL, ensure to cross verify the CMDB entries specified in
casm.conf
and
nx.env
.
Perform the following steps:
  1. Login to CA Service Desk Manager (SDM) browser Interface and access the URL: https://<hostname>:<portnumber>
CA SDM is accessed successfully with a valid login role/user (Example: ServiceDesk).
  2. Now, try to access the CMDB URL: http://<hostname>:<portnumber>/CMDBVisualizer
  3. CMDB Visualizer Interface is launched but login access is denied even to valid users/role like ServiceDesk.
Solution
: To resolve this issue, verify the value of “
vizserver
” and access the URL interface with the same format as specified in
casm.conf
file.
CMDB Visualizer Interface may fail to launch with HTTP 404 Error
Problem
: Visualizer does not launch from the CA Service Desk Manager Web Interface and shows HTTP 404 error.
Solution
: Update the
context.xml
file in <NX_ROOT>\bopcfg\www\CATALINA_BASE_VIZ\conf\context.XML. Update the following in the beginning or topmost portion of this file:
<Valve className="org.apache.catalina.valves.rewrite.RewriteValve" />
For example, after adding the above lines, the
context.xml
file is updated as shown below:
<Valve className="org.apache.catalina.valves.rewrite.RewriteValve" /> <WatchedResource>WEB-INF/web.xml/<WatchedResource> <WatchedResource>${catalina.base}/conf/web.xml/<WatchedResource>
