Adding Actions to the Policy
Policy actions define the actions to be taken when a policy is violated. For example, you might want a message to be sent to any users when they reach a certain threshold in storage space. You can also execute the policy actions when the asset no longer violates the policy.

- NotificationAn alarm is displayed on the DSM Explorer. You can construct message texts as with Event Log.
- MessageA display message job is created on the agent. You can construct message texts as with Event Log.
- Schedule JobA specified job is scheduled to be executed on a violating asset. The job runs the next time when the agent runs.
- Launch ApplicationA selected application is run on the engine when an asset triggers a policy.
- Add to GroupThe asset is added to a specified domain group.
- Generate Text FileText is appended to the TXT file containing the message text that the engine generated when the policy occurs. You can construct message texts as with Event Log.
- Send MailAn MAPI email is sent to the specified recipients. You can construct message texts as with Event Log.Ensure that the mail client runs for any email policies to work.
- Delete AssetThe asset is removed from the system.
- System Event LogPolicy notification is logged in the System Event Log. You can construct a message text to appear in the policy notification. For example, $NAME$::$TYPE$ displays the specific Asset Name, and Asset Type as found in the database, in the Message Text. This text is contained in the text file of a notification, which the Engine triggers when the policy occurs.
- Unicenter Event LogThe policy notification is logged in the CA Event Console. You can access the event console fromTools,Unicenter,Event Consolemenu in the DSM Explorer.The Engine generates the log entry on the computer on which it is installed.
- AMT CommandThe Intel AMT remote commands are run on the Intel AMT assets when the policy is violated. These commands let you control the Intel AMT assets.
- SNMP TrapAn SNMP Trap is triggered. You can construct message texts as with Event Log. SNMP traps are used with CA Enterprise Management enabling integration between the CA products.Install the SNMP functionality on the asset which is typically a Windows component.Also enable the following settings for CCS event management (or CA NSM):
- Ensure that you have enabled theSNMP Trap Server Activatedoption in EM Settings. Restart the computer for the setting to work properly.
- If you are using a configuration file, ensure that you enable the event manager to use the specified file.
