Video: Install CA Clarity PPM Content Add-Ins (PMO Accelerator)
Install the PMO Accelerator Add-in
: Verify that you have already installed the CA PPM data warehouse. The PMO Accelerator add-in includes items that are based on the data warehouse schema. If the data warehouse schema is unavailable, installation of the add-in is unsuccessful. See
Install and Configure the Data Warehouse.
Install the PMO Accelerator add-in on your
Clarity PPM
application server. The PMO Accelerator add-in is included with Clarity PPM
and is ready for installation. In releases prior to PMO Accelerator Release 3.2, you had to download the add-in installer from the support site, but this is no longer necessary. If you are upgrading from a previous
Clarity PPM
release with the PMO Accelerator installed, you must also upgrade the PMO Accelerator. For the required version, see the Release Notes. The following steps explain how to install the PMO Accelerator add-in on your
Clarity PPM
application server.Follow these steps:
- As a best practice, we recommend you back up the existingClarity PPMinstallation directory and database before installing the add-in. Back up your installation before installing this add-in so that you can restore the application to the prior version if necessary. Once you have installed the add-in, you cannot uninstall it.
- Stop the services. Before installing the add-in, stop theClarity PPMApplication (app) andClarity PPMBackground (bg) services. Stop the services fromClarity PPMSystem Administration (CSA).
- Execute the install script. The script installs lookups, queries, portlets, pages, views, processes, groups, resource roles, project templates, and database objects.
- Open a command prompt and navigate to theClarity PPMruntime bin directory.
- Enter the command:admin content cskThe installation process begins and information displays on the screen. The information is captured and stored in the admin.log file that is located in the logs directory. The output files are stored in the logs/content/xog/csk directory.
- Review the screen output and the logs for important information after the installation completes.
- Start the services. After installing the add-in, start theClarity PPMApplication (app) andClarity PPMBackground (bg) services in CSA.
Import the Jaspersoft Advanced Reporting Content for the PMO Accelerator
The following procedure imports domains, reports, input controls, localization bundles, images, templates, data sources, and roles. It also creates the organization name and the user who is specified in the
Clarity PPM
System Administration (CSA) Reporting subtab. It is required that you specify the organization name, organization ID, and the user in the CSA Reporting subtab before importing the Jaspersoft Advanced Reporting Content. In addition, the PMO Accelerator is a required prerequisite of the Jaspersoft Advanced Reporting content because many of the reports reference objects and attributes that are delivered in the PMO Accelerator.
Before importing the Jaspersoft Advanced Reporting content, complete the steps to set up advanced reporting in Jaspersoft and
Clarity PPM
. For more information about how to set up advanced reporting, see Installing and Upgrading
.The import does the following:
- Creates the organization. Define the organization name and organization ID in the CSA Reporting subtab before importing.
- Creates the CA PPM folder and its subfolders in the organization repository. The CA PPM folder contains all the Jaspersoft Advanced Reporting content items.
- Creates the Advanced Reporting roles. For a description of these roles, seeAdvanced Reporting Roles and Permissions.
- Creates the PMO Accelerator roles. These roles determine content permissions and begin with “CSK_ “.
- Updates the domains with the Data Warehouse schema owner name specific to the database.
- Uploads the UI Themes.
- Creates the Shared folder.
- Creates the Jaspersoft administrator user. The default user is “ppmjasperadmin“. This user can be changed in the CSA Reporting subtab before importing, but after importing this user should not be modified. The Create and Update Jaspersoft Users job and the Load Data Warehouse job, which dynamically updates domains, require this user.
- Creates an entry for the Jaspersoft Content in the Install History table (CMN_INSTALL_HISTORY).
Follow these steps:
- Open a command prompt and navigate to theClarity PPMruntime bin directory.
- Enter the command:admin content-jaspersoft csk -userName superuser -password <password>The import process begins and the import information is stored in the admin.log. The import process requires the superuser user.
- Review the admin.log for important information after the import completes.
- Open Administration, and from Studio, click Content Add-Ins.The Content Add-Ins page appears.
- Click the Accelerator: Program Management Office add-in (ID: csk). The Content Add-In Accelerator: Program Management Office - Properties page appears.
- Review the Jaspersoft Content Installed Date included in the Versions section of this page.
Upgrade the PMO Accelerator Content
Perform these steps if you have an existing installation of the PMO Accelerator add-in, or if you have previously configured
Clarity PPM
Studio objects. These steps are not required when the add-in is installed for the first time. If you have an earlier version of the PMO Accelerator installed and you upgrade to a later version of the add-in, the Content Add-In Items List page shows which items are not installed. Their status appears as
Upgrade Ready
when an update to the item is included in the new PMO add-in.For upgraded add-ins, you can install and periodically update content items in the add-in after the initial installation.
Follow these steps:
- Log in toClarity PPM.
- ClickAdministration,Studio,Content Add-Ins.
- Click the List icon of the Accelerator: Program Management Office add-in (ID: csk). Select the add-in. Its status showsUpgrade Ready.TheContent Add-In Items Listpage appears.
- Click theItemstab. Review the add-in items in the product.
- Review the existing configurations carefully before you apply the new or changed content.
- Select the items that are markedUpgrade ReadyorNot Installedthat you want to upgrade to the new version. You can filter on the Status field. Each content item has one of the following status values:
- Not Installed: Items that are new to the add-in version or items that produced an error upon install. When the PMO Accelerator is not upgraded after upgrading from a previousClarity PPMrelease, several items will show as Not Installed and an alert message saying that the add-in needs to be installed will display. Install the add-in to change the status of these items.
- Upgrade Ready: Items that you installed from a previous add-in version that has an update to the item in the current add-in version or views updated via the add-in that you have also modified via Studio.
- Installed: Items that are installed. Select the items you want to install.
- For all active process instances that display theUpgrade Readystatus, cancel and delete the old process instances.
- Consider the configurations you have made to items before installing them. Installing modified items overwrites your configurations. If you have previously configured Studio object views, the configurations are preserved and are not overwritten during installation. You can decide which views to install by selecting them. For more information about how PMO Accelerator configures views, see PMO Accelerator Object Views.Previously configured views are not overwritten during the installation. From this page, you can select which new or updated views to apply. Applying a Studio object view overwrites any existing Studio object views.
- ClickInstall. The selected items appear on the Confirm Content Item Installation page. If selected items have dependencies on other items, the dependent items also appear on the page and must be installed.
- ClickYesto update or install the items. If a user has previously changed an item listed on the confirmation or install page, publish the item before displaying the update to the users. For more information, seeCA PPM Studio Development.
PMO Accelerator Content Items by Release
The following tables assume an earlier version of the PMO Accelerator was fully installed including all custom views. The add-in was then upgraded to the next version. The items in the tables are sorted alphabetically by content item.

Review the tables to understand the recommended actions for installing the add-in items with an
Upgrade Ready
status. The tables identify whether an update is strongly recommended, recommended, or optional. The following fields appear in the tables:
- Content Item:Indicates the item name and is the same as the Content Item in the Content Add-In Items List page.
- Type:Indicates the item type and is the same as the type in the Content Add-In Items List page.
- Description:Describes the update and provides a short explanation of why you should apply it.
- Action:Indicates the recommended action:
- SR: The update is strongly recommended. It must be installed.
- R: The update is recommended. It should be installed.
- O: The update is optional. We recommend that you install the update unless you have modified custom views or items and do not want your modifications overwritten. If you do not apply a view update, you should read the description of the changes and consider manually making the changes in your configured views.
