Enable the New User Experience
As an administrator, see
Enable the New User Experience
 in Configure General System Settings
Install the PMO Accelerator in Classic PPM before completing the steps for enabling the
New User Experience
. Without the accelerator, the options for enabling the
New User Experience
are disabled. See Install the PMO Accelerator Add-In and PMO Sample Data.
Enable New Timesheets
While enabling the
New User Experience
, you can also choose to enable new timesheets.
When you enable the new timesheets, be aware of the following differences between the New and the Classic PPM timesheets:
  • With new timesheets, users no longer see the Home, Timesheets menu link previously available in Classic PPM (although as an administrator you could still navigate back to it with a link format such as http://<server>/niku/nu#action:timeadmin.timesheetBrowserReturn).
  • The Administration, Timesheet Options layout configuration page no longer shows certain fields that are not supported in the new timesheets.
  • The new timesheets do not allow incident time tracking; if you enter incident time entries in Classic PPM, they do not appear on the new timesheet details.
  •  The data model is the same, so changes you see in one are visible, if supported, in the other.
  •  Both interfaces support the optional auto-spreading of one total value evenly across entries for multiple days.
  •  Only Classic PPM timesheets support time entry notes, email links to resources, direct access to timesheet configuration, and the ability to create a task from a timesheet.
  • Links in notifications go to the new UX timesheet instead of Classic PPM timesheets.
  • We recommend that you do not attempt to use both old and new at the same time; however, it is technically possible to do so.
Configure Single Sign-On (SSO) for the
New User Experience

As an administrator, you can configure an SSO server for the
New User Experience
.See
Configure Single Sign-On (SSO) for the New User Experience
in CSA: Security, Passwords, LDAP, SSL, SSO, XSS, and FIPS. If you are using IDP federated SSO and you want your users to access the
New User Experience
by default, contact your identity management team. They might need to generate a new link with
/pm
  appended to the URL.

Hide or Show IE 11 Not Supported Messages
By default, Classic PPM supports Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11); however, the
New User Experience
does not. Users can switch to a more modern supported web browser such as Chrome, Firefox, or Edge as recommended in the Release Notes. When users attempt to access the
New User Experience
features, a banner message reminds them that IE 11 is not supported.

image2018-5-9 16:29:22.png

As an administrator, you can hide these banner messages. For example, your organization has decided to allow users to continue to use Internet Explorer 11 for the short-term until your IT staff can transition users to a new browser.

Follow these steps
:
  1. Log in to Classic PPM or click the
    Classic PPM
     main menu item in the
    New User Experience
    .
  2. Click
    Administration
    General Settings
    System Options
    .

    New User Experience
     section, select the
    Hide IE11 Not Supported Banner
     option.
  4. Click
    Save
    .
Although this option hides the messages from users, Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 remains unsupported. The browser might not deliver the best user experience. The following disclaimer appears near the check box:

Checking this box indicates your organization's understanding that CA PPM does not support Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 for the Modern UX and that your organization accepts the risks associated with the use of this browser option.

Configure Timesheet Attestation
As an administrator, you can configure timesheets in the
New User Experience
to prompt the user to confirm an attestation statement for compliance requirements.

Example
: Mike works for a company that performs services for a government agency. One of the agency rules requires a certification or attestation from each employee and contractor. As a financial control for invoice payments, the attestation asks them to confirm that their timesheets are accurate before they submit them. When Mike submits his timesheet, an alert reminds him to read and confirm the timesheet compliance statement.
  1. Log in to Classic PPM or click the
    Classic PPM
     main menu item in the
    New User Experience

New User Experience
. This option allow users to enter an optional single total value (in hours or days) for a task. That total is divided or spread equally across multiple days. For example, a user enters 40 total hours and the timesheet shows 8 hours per day for five days for that same task.
  1. Log in to Classic PPM or click the
    Classic PPM
     main menu item in the
    New User Experience
