View User Counts by License Type
ccppmop1581
Classic PPM
assigns a license type to each named user to represent their consumption of product features and functionality. Access rights determine the license type that is assigned to each user. As an administrator, you do not assign license types to users. Instead, you assign access rights to each named user and those rights determine which license is applied to that user.As an administrator, you have great control over the rights that you can assign to users at the instance, group, OBS, or global levels. The application can also automatically assign a right to a user based on the actions that you allow them to perform. For example, if you give a user the right to in the English edition of the documentation.
create
a project, they will likely expect the right to view
it later. See Clarity
Access Rights ReferenceYou can use the License Information page to view license information including the license types and the number of users who are assigned to each license. You can also view the Telemetry data that is generated by
Classic PPM
. The application associates a user with only one license type. As an administrator, you can adjust user access rights to change the total counts for each license type.
License Types
The application examines user access rights to classify each named user into one of the following license types:
- Full:Full use of the functionality and any licensed options. These users typically configure the application and can create object instances such as projects. They can manage portfolios, projects, and resources.
- Restricted:Functionality is limited. These users typically enter time, update tasks, and view information.
- View Only:Potentially unlimited viewing of information; however, typically viewing is limited.
- Other:The Other license type is used to associate users to other licensing that is not specific to the product.
If users have access rights that map to multiple license types, the highest license type prevails. For example, a user has the
Project - Edit Assigned Tasks
right (typically counted as a restricted
license). That same user also has the Project - Create
right (a full
license type). The application includes that user in the full
license type count.View License Information
View the license Information to verify that your organization complies with your current
Classic PPM
licensing agreement. Use license information to accomplish the following goals:- View the license types and the number of users who are assigned to each license.
- Determine if new licenses are required.
- Identify the types of users consuming certain license types to analyze why certain license types are used more than others.
You can view license information from the following portlets:

- Rights by UserLists all the rights for each license type that is associated with a user.
The license information does not count inactive and locked users.
The User List by License Type and the Rights by User portlets are not available in the default view of the License Information page. You need to add these portlets to the page.

on the same instance with another CA product. In multiple product environments, the license portlets show four license types (Full, Restricted, View Only, and Other). The license type is the highest in the license hierarchy.View User Count by License Type
