From
Test Data Management
4.8, you can activate the product in one of the following two ways:
  •
    Broadcom Portfolio License Agreement (PLA)
This type of usage plan does not require a license key.
Under the terms of the Broadcom PLA, it is mandatory to send TDM telemetry data. For more information, see Configure Telemetry.
  •
    Standard TDM License
This type of license requires a single license key for all TDM components.
This page contains information on the following topics:

Request a CA TDM License (Standard TDM License Only)
You should receive an activation key for
Test Data Management
when you purchase the product. If you do not have an activation key, you can request one with a Customer Care Case Request at https://ca-broadcom.wolkenservicedesk.com.
To do so, you need to provide your:
  •  Enterprise Site ID
  • Product Name (
    CA Test Data Manager
    )
  • Release number
Activate TDM and complete Telemetry Configuration
When you activate TDM, you also need to provide details for the storage of telemetry. If you use TDM under the terms of a PLA, TDM sends this telemetry information to Broadcom.
If you use TDM under the terms of a Broadcom Portfolio Licensing Agreement (PLA), this telemetry information is necessary for TDM to function.
If you do not use TDM under the terms of a PLA, TDM stores your telemetry information for your reference, but does not send it to Broadcom.
Broadcom Portfolio License Agreement
You can activate the software with details of your Broadcom Portfolio License Agreement (PLA).

TDM Portal in Docker
Activation of TDM Portal in Docker behaves the same as in a standard Windows installation. Therefore, activation instructions on this page also apply to activation of TDM Portal in Docker either under the terms of a Broadcom PLA, or with a standard TDM license.
For more information, see TDM Portal container.
Fast Data Masker / GT Subset License Activation
Fast Data Masker (FDM) and GT Subset both require activation, independent of the activation you perform in TDM Portal. GT Subset checks for an activation key at startup in the folder below, and prompts you for it if no valid key is present.
FDM and GT Subset also require additional configuration to send Telemetry data. For more information, see Configure Telemetry.
Prerequisite for use under Broadcom Portfolio License Agreement
If you use TDM under the terms of a PLA, you need to download an internal activation key from TDM Portal to activate FDM and GT Subset.

Follow these steps:

  • Click
    Configuration
     in the left pane.
  • Click
    License Details
    .
    The
    License Details
     page opens.
  • Click the
    Download License
     button.
    The license file (
    lic.dat
    ) downloads.
You can now use the license file to activate FDM and GT Subset.
Activation of FDM and GT Subset
If you are unable to use Fast Data Masker or GT Subset because of the non-availability of the licensing information, copy your license file to the following location:
For customers with a standard TDM License, your license file is a .txt file. It is necessary to rename it to
lic.dat
 in the target location.

Windows:
 %ProgramData%\CA\TDM\

Linux:
 $HOME/.CA/TDM/
Activation of FDM for Docker Masking engine
The TDM Portal Masking container uses Fast Data Masker's masking engine. This requires activation, independent of TDM Portal's activation.
To apply your license key to the TDM Portal Docker masking engine, it is necessary to define the environment variable
FDM_LICENSE
. For more information, see Configure a masking engine container's License key.
