This article is for probe versions 5.4 and later.
The Interface Traffic Monitoring (interface_traffic) probe monitors the network traffic on the SNMP agents using standard MIB-II queries. The probe can monitor one or more interfaces for traffic congestion and inactive interfaces. To get the interface traffic data, the probe queries the SNMP agent on the defined host, using a combination of SNMPGet requests at predefined intervals. This period is calculated as the
interval * number of samples
. The probe reports when the traffic breaches a predefined threshold. It also supports Quality of Service (QoS) messages for the Service Level Agreement (SLA) family. The network interface can be monitored on a Windows or UNIX systems, or router or switch.
Probes that support SNMP on Linux (interface_traffic, snmptd, and snmpget) use an SNMP library. This library can cause newer Linux systems to issue the following message on the Linux console log:
process ‘interface_traff’ is using obsolete setsockopt SO_BSDCOMPAT
The SNMP library supports older versions of glibc which require the flag for sockets to work correctly. The network portion of the glibc library sends this message. The message shows that an unsupported flag is being sent to the setsockopt function. The library ignores this flag, so you can also ignore it.
The following diagram outlines the process to configure the probe.

(Optional) Configure General Probe Settings
After the deployment of the probe, it is installed with a set of default configuration settings. Complete the steps in this procedure, only, if you want to change these default settings to suit your organization requirements. For example, you can change the level of log information to be stored, or the conditions to raise an alarm. Any profile that you create inherits these default configuration settings. However, if you individually change the monitoring configuration of a profile, these default configurations are no longer applicable to it.
Follow these steps:
  1. Click the
    General Setup
    button from the toolbar to open the
    Setup
    window.
  2. On the
    General
    tab, configure the following probe settings:
    • Send Alarm Once (if Interface is Down):
      sends alarm, once, when the operational state for the interface is down. This alarm is sent with the
      Ignore other alarms when operational state is down/not present/lower layer down
      field of the
      Advanced
      tab.
    • Send Alarm Once (if Interface is Unavailable/Deleted):
      sends alarm, only once, for the interface operational state, when an interface is deleted or unavailable. The alarm is sent with the
      Ignore other alarms when operational state is down/not present/lower layer down
      field of the
      Advanced
      tab.
    • Show ‘All Agents’:
      displays a group called
      All Agents
      in the left pane. It contains all defined hosts.
      You can right-click in the left pane of the user interface and select
      Show All Agents
      to override this option.
    • Polling interval:
      enter the default interval for the probe to poll the selected host. You can override this value in the
      Host Properties
      window.
    • Log-level:
      select the level of details that are written to the log file. You can select the following log levels:
      • 0 - Logs only severe information (default)
      • 1 - Logs error information
      • 2 - Logs warning information
      • 3 - Logs general information
      • 4 - Logs debugging information
      • 5 - Logs tracing/low-level debugging information
      Log as little as possible during normal operation to minimize disk consumption and increase the amount of detail when debugging.
    • Log-size:
      enter the size of the probe log file where the probe-internal log messages are written. When this size is reached, the contents of the file are cleared.
      Default: 100 KB
      In version 5.42 and later, the maximum logsize is enhanced to 2 GB (2097151 KB).
    • ifSpeed Interval (Multiple of poll interval):
      enter the time interval, in seconds, to update the ifSpeed value. The ifSpeed value is updated for any change after an interval, which is multiple of poll interval. For example, if the defined Poll interval is 3 seconds and ifSpeed interval is 10, then the value is updated at an interval of 3*10 = 30 seconds.
    • Use IfDescription for CI Name:
      displays the description of the Configuration Item (CI) as the target in the QoS Message.
      Default: selected
      The
      Use IfDescription for CI Name
      option is added from version 5.40 onwards of the probe. Refer

    • Use Alias:
      displays the alias name of the Configuration Item in the
      Description
      column on the probe GUI. By default, this checkbox is not selected. When you select the checkbox, the probe GUI displays the interface description in the
      Name
      column and the interface alias in the
      Description
      column (like version 5.32) and SNMP_v3 support.
      The
      Use Alias
      option is added from version 5.41 onward. Refer

  3. Navigate to
    Advanced
    tab to maintain the connection information and also perform some advanced settings.
    • Connection Information:
      lists all the added connections. Use the following fields to add a connection:
      • Name
        : specify a name for the connection.
      • SNMP Version:
        select the SNMP software version number.
      • Authentication:
        select the type of authentication strategy. Enabled only when
        SNMPv3
        is selected from the SNMP Version field.
      • Port:
        specify the port to be used to send SNMP requests to the host.
        Default: 161
      • Community/password:
        specify the community, if
        SNMPv1
        or
        SNMPv2c
        is selected. Specify the password, if
        SNMPv3
        is selected and enabled when
        Security
        is selected as
        AuthNoPriv
        or
        AuthPriv
        .
        Password string must be at least 8 characters long.
      • Username:
        specify a username to access the monitored device.
        The
        Username
        ,
        Security
        ,
        Priv. Protocol
        , and
        Priv. Passphrase
        fields are enabled only when
        SNMPv3
        is selected.
      • Security:
        specify the security level for the user.
      • Priv. Protocol:
        specify the privacy protocol to use. Enabled only when
        AuthPriv
        is selected as
        Security
        .
      • Priv. Passphrase:
        define your privacy passphrase. It must be at least eight characters long. Enabled only when
        AuthPriv
        is selected as
        Security
        .
    • Bind to network interface:
      binds all the network operations to the controller IP address.
    • Concurrent sessions:
      enter the number of concurrent parallel sessions.
    • Encrypt community strings:
      encrypts the community string in the configuration file.
    • Items in sample array:
      enter the default number of samples stored in memory for each interface. This value can be overridden for each interface.
    • Save inactive interface definitions:
      saves interface definitions for all inactive and active interfaces. If not selected, saves interface definitions for active interfaces only.
      • Include Alarm/QoS Settings:
        saves alarm and QoS settings information for inactive interfaces. If not selected, the alarm and QoS settings information for inactive interfaces is not saved.
    • SNMP request timeout:
      select the timeout value for the SNMP requests. Use the default value, or select another value (in seconds) from the drop-down list.
    • Ignore other alarms when operational state is down/not present/lower layer down:
      If selected, alarms related to threshold breach of traffic, packet, and queue length are not sent when:
      • if the operational state is either down
      • if the operational state is not present
      • lower layer is down
        You can select this option and the
        Send Alarm Once (if Interface is Unavailable or Deleted)
        option to configure the Op State (operational state) alarm. The alarm is generated once when the interface is down or unavailable and all other alarms except Admin State are ignored.
    • Single SNMP requests:
      uses a single PDU (Protocol Data Unit) to collect the interface data. PDU is information delivered through a network layer.
    • UI config timeout (sec.):
      enter the maximum time the probe can use to read the configuration file from the controller before timing out. CA recommends you to increase the size using this option, if you are monitoring a large number of hosts and the configuration file is large
      Default: 100 seconds
    • Hide community strings:
      hides the community string when listing hosts in the right pane. The hosts is listed in the right pane when selecting
      All Agents
      in the left pane.
    • Send QoS in Kbps only:
      sends the QoS in Kbps only and not in its default unit, which is bytes/sec. If the unit selected for QoS is kbit/sec and this option is unchecked, then QoS is sent in both Kbps and bps. If
      Send QoS in Kbps only
      is selected and unit for QoS is also selected as kbit/sec then default Bytes/second unit is not used and only QoS in kbit/sec is used.
  4. Click
    Ok
    to save the configuration.
Create a Profile for the SNMP Host
You can create host profiles for SNMP hosts. The ways to create a profile are as follows:
  • Add a host profile: You can add a profile for a specific host for monitoring.
  • Add a range of host profiles using a single connection: You can scan across a range of IP addresses to find and add all applicable hosts.
  • Drag-and-drop host records to create host profiles using a single connection: Use a preexisting list of hostnames or IP addresses and add them to the probe as profiles.
  • Bulk Configuration of Multiple Hosts: configure multiple hosts with the same monitoring parameters at the same time.
Choose the option to create a profile that best suits your organization needs.
Add a Host Profile
You can add a profile for a specific host for monitoring.
Follow these steps:
  1. Select a group in the left pane.
  2. Click interface_traffic_CreateHostBtn.png to open the
    Host Profile [NEW]
    window.
    The
    General Settings
    tab is available. The
    Advanced
    and
    Message Definition
    tabs are disabled.
  3. Enter the hostname or IP address of the SNMP host in
    Host address
    .
    The
    Start Query
    button is enabled when you enter the value in this field.
  4. Specify the interval at which the probe polls the selected host in
    Poll interval.
  5. Enter the following information in
    SNMP Properties
    to define the connection details for the host profile:
    • Version:
      select the SNMP software version number.
    • Auth:
      select the type of authentication strategy. Enabled only when
      SNMPv3
      is selected from the SNMP Version field.
    • Port:
      select the port to be used to send SNMP requests to the host.
      Default: 161
    • Timeout:
      select the timeout value for the SNMP requests.
      Default: 1 second
    • Retries:
      select the maximum number of attempts to send SNMP requests without response from the device to consider the device as unavailable.
      Default: 5
    • Community/password:
      enter the community, if
      SNMPv1
      or
      SNMPv2c
      is selected. Specify the password, if
      SNMPv3
      is selected and enabled when
      Security
      is selected as
      AuthNoPriv
      or
      AuthPriv
      .
      Password string must be at least 8 characters long.
    • Username:
      enter a username to access the monitored device.
      The

    • Show Community/password:
      displays the string in the as plain text.
    • Security:
      select the security level for the user.

      AuthPriv

    • Priv. Passphrase:
      enter your privacy passphrase. It must be at least eight characters long. Enabled only when
      AuthPriv
      is selected as
      Security
      .
  6. You can select a different group from
    Monitoring group
    and add additional
    Description
    about the monitored SNMP host in the profile.
  7. Click
    Start Query
    .
    If the query is successful, then the
    SNMP Query
    window appears.
  8. Click
    OK.
    The Host Profile window appears and the Advanced and Message Definition tabs are enabled.
    The OK button (on the Host Profile dialog) gets enabled once the SNMP query is successfully completed.
  9. Click
    OK
    (on the
    Host Profile
    window).
    The SNMP host is added to the list of monitored devices.
  10. (Optional) Navigate to the
    Advanced
    tab to configure the advanced settings for the new host. These settings include alarm and QoS identification settings, number of interfaces to be monitored (through automatic detection or by specifying manually), and whether to re-map interfaces automatically after an index shift or not.
    • Alarm identification method:
      select whether alarm messages are to be identified by the host address or by the profile name. These alarm messages are generated on breached thresholds from the selected host.
    • QoS identification method:
      select whether the QoS messages issued from the selected host are to be identified by the host address, profile name, or interface description.
    • Prefix alarm messages with the 'Description':
      prefixes the alarm messages with the ‘Description’ text string, if specified in the
      General Settings
      tab.
    • Monitor the number of interfaces:
      sets the number of interfaces to be monitored on the selected host . You can select the
      Manual
      option and a number or select
      Automatic Detection
      for automatic selection of the number of interfaces.
    • Show Multicast/Broadcast Packets:
      generates the QoS and alarms for unicast, multicast, and broadcast packets for the processed packets. For more information, see Monitor Interface Window.
      Default: selected
    • Automatically re-map interfaces after an index shift:
      sends an SNMP query to the host, attempting to rediscover all interfaces when modifications have been made on a monitored host (such as replacement of interface cards, deleted/added VLANs etc.). The probe maps the active profiles to the new indexes using the interface names found during the initial interface discovery.
  11. (Optional) From the
    Message Definitions
    tab you can view the list of token values, and the corresponding message IDs. You can select a message ID for the different message tokens.
Add a Range of Host Profiles Using a Single Connection
You can add a range of IP addresses as host profiles in the probe. All hosts within the range are queried using a single connection.
Follow these steps:
  1. Select a group in the left pane.
  2. From the toolbar, click 21.png and select
    New Range
    .
    The
    Add Agent Range
    window appears.
  3. Specify the starting address of the IP range in
    IP address
    and the incremental value in
    Number of agents
    . For example, if you enter IP address as 10.112.69.69, and the number of agents as 2, then the IP addresses are  10.112.69.69,  10.112.69.70,  10.112.69.71.
  4. Click
    OK
    .
    The
    SNMP Query
    window appears.
  5. Select a connection to use for all hosts in the specified range from the
    Connection Information
    drop-down list.
    Default: Auto
    :
    • You must select a connection from the
      Connection Information
      drop-down before clicking the
      Start Query
      button to collect SNMP data.
    • You can also select
      <Add New>
      from the
      Connection Information
      to add a new connection to be used. For more information, see
      Add Connection
      .
  6. Set or modify the following values:
    • Timeout:
      select the timeout value for the SNMP requests.
      Default: 1 second
    • Retries:
      select the maximum number of attempts to send SNMP requests without response from the device to consider the device as not available.
      Default: 5
    • Monitoring group:
      enter the name of the group where the host profile is created.
      Default: Default group
  7. Select
    Activate interface monitor
    to automatically activate monitoring of the interfaces that are detected on the hosts that are found by the query. You can select one of the three available monitoring criteria:
    • For all interfaces that are ‘up’:
      monitoring is activated for all interfaces detected that are ‘up and running’ (green indicator).
    • For all interfaces that are matching:
      monitoring is activated for all interfaces that are detected with Interface names matching the string specified. Example:
      FastEthernet0
      ,
      Ethernet0
      , and
      Ethernet1
      all match the string
      Eth.
    • For all interfaces matching index:
      monitoring is activated for all interfaces that are detected with an ID matching the index specified. This setting can be a single ID or a comma-separated list.
  8. Click

Drag-and-Drop Host Records to Create Host Profiles using a Single Connection
Use the existing list of hostnames or IP addresses and add them to the probe as profiles.
Follow these steps:
  1. Open the file with the IP addresses or hostnames in a word editor such as Microsoft Word or WordPad.
  2. Select the SNMP hosts to monitor.
  3. Drag the selection to the applicable group in the navigation pane.
    The
    SNMP Query
    window appears.
  4. Select a connection to use for all hosts in the specified range from the
    Connection Information
    drop-down list.
    Default: Auto
    : The connection has the following conditions:
    • You must select a connection from the
      Connection Information
      drop-down before clicking the
      Start Query
      button to collect SNMP data.
    • You can also select
      <Add New>
      from the
      Connection Information
      to add a new connection to be used. Refer
      Add Connection
      for more information.
  5. Set or modify the following values:
    • Timeout:
      select the timeout value for the SNMP requests.
      Default: 1 second
    • Retries:
      select the maximum number of attempts to send SNMP requests without response from the device to consider the device as not available.
      Default: 5
    • Monitoring group:
      enter the name of the group where the host profile is created.
      Default: Default group
  6. Select
    Activate interface monitor

Bulk Configuration of Multiple Hosts
You can configure multiple hosts with the same monitoring parameters at the same time.
Follow these steps:
  1. Click interface_traffic_BulkBtn.png from the toolbar.
  2. Set or modify the following values on the
    Bulk Configuration
    window:
    • Select Agents
      • All Agents
        : configuration parameters are distributed to all the monitored SNMP hosts.
      • Only active ones
        : configuration parameters are distributed to all the active monitored SNMP hosts.
      • All agents matching:
        specify the pattern of host names where the configuration parameters is distributed. See,
        Using Regular Expressions
        for more information.
      • All agents in the group:
        select the group of hosts where the configuration parameters is distributed.
      • Selected Agents:
        configuration parameters is distributed to one or more SNMP hosts selected in a group.
    • Select Interfaces
      • Apply to all Interfaces:
        configuration parameters are distributed to all interfaces on the monitored SNMP hosts.
      • Only active ones:
        configuration parameters are distributed to all the active interfaces on the monitored SNMP hosts.
      • Apply to interfaces matching:
        specify the pattern of interface names names where the configuration parameters is distributed on the monitored SNMP hosts. Refer
        Using Regular Expressions
        for more information.
      • Selected Interfaces:
        configuration parameters are distributed to one or more interfaces selected in the monitored SNMP hosts.
        If you select one or more interfaces in the probe GUI and then click the
        Bulk Configuration
        button, the bulk configuration applies to the selected interfaces.
    • Modify Agent values
      • Interval:
        specify the interval for the probe to poll the selected host.
      • Version
        : select the SNMP software version number (
        SNMPv1, SNMPv2c
        , or
        SNMPv3).
      • Auth:
        select the type of authentication strategy. Enabled only when
        SNMPv3
        is selected from the SNMP Version field.
      • Port:
        select the port to be used to send SNMP requests to the host.

    • Advanced
      • Prefix alarm messages with the ‘Description’:
        prefixes the ‘Description’ text string to the alarm messages issued on breached thresholds from the selected host, if selected.
      • Automatically re-map interfaces after an index shift:
        if selected, the probe automatically discovers and maps the active profiles to new indexes. When modifications have been made on a monitored host (such as replacement of interface cards, deleted/added VLANs), the probe sends an SNMP query to the host, attempting to rediscover all interfaces. The probe uses the interface names found during the initial interface discovery to map the profiles.
    • Modify Interface Values
      • Use the default interface settings:
        default interface parameters are used.
      • Configure interface settings:
        open the
        InterfaceName
        window, enabling you to define your own set of parameters for this bulk configuration.
      • Monitoring:
        settings done in the upper sections of the
        Bulk Configuration
        dialog are not applied to an interface/all interfaces. This section is available only when
        Modify interface values
        check box is selected.
      • Activate:
        apply the settings for bulk configuration.
  3. Click
    OK
    .
    The bulk configuration is applied to the interfaces.
Configure Monitoring Parameters
You can activate various monitoring options in an interface. Double-click the interface (or right-click the interface and select
Edit
). The
InterfaceName
window appears with the following tabs and buttons:
  • Traffic
    tab helps you to publish QoS using different criteria, set the value(s) of low and high threshold, set the alarm severity level, and configure other alarm-generation settings. Traffic is defined as the number of bytes transmitted over the interface.
  • Packets
    tab helps you to configure various settings for
    Error Packets
    ,
    Discarded Packets
    , and
    Processed Packets
    .
  • Query Length
    tab helps you to specify the length of the output packet queue. Queue length is the maximum permissible number of packets in the output queue before the alarm is raised.
  • State
    tab helps you to set the Interface Operational State (The current operational state of the interface) and Interface Administrative State (The desired state of the interface).
    A "down state" indicates that no packets can be passed.
  • Advanced
    tab helps you enhance the monitoring capabilities.
  • Set Default
    button
    displays the Default interface settings dialog. Each option, when selected, opens a confirmation dialog.
  • Monitor
    button
    displays the interface traffic in a graphical format. For more information, see Monitor Interface Window.
Depending on your organization requirement, enter the fields in one or more tabs. Click
Ok
after you add the details in each tab to save the configuration.
The descriptions of these fields in each tab are listed below.
Traffic Tab
The fields in the
Traffic
tab are explained as follows:
  • Publish Quality of Service:
    generates Quality of Service for a selected data series. You can also select the QoS to be published in different formats. For example, you can generate QoS for interface traffic in bytes/second.
  • Enable monitoring:
    enables monitoring of the traffic on the interface. You can use the following parameters:
    • using percentage (%):
      alarm thresholds using percentage. The default values for
      Low threshold
      is 90 % and for
      High threshold
      is 98%.
    • using values:
      alarm thresholds, using values. You can specify the low and high threshold values in
      B/s, Kb/s Mb/s
      , or
      Gb/s
      .
    • Samples to base average on:
      specify the number of samples to base the average value on. This number and the polling interval determine the period for calculating the average value. The average value is checked against the thresholds and alarms are issued if the average value breaches the thresholds.
    • Low threshold:
      enter the low alarm threshold value (either in percentage or in value). Alarms with the severity level (say,
      Warning
      ) specified in the
      Alarm severity level
      field is issued when the traffic (average value, see above) exceeds this value.
      Default: Disabled
    • High threshold:
      enter the high alarm threshold value. Alarms with a high severity level (for example,
      Critical
      ) specified in the
      Alarm severity level
      field is issued when the traffic (average value) exceeds this value.
      • It is mandatory to either specify
        Low threshold
        or
        High threshold.
      • An error message is displayed, if
        using values
        option is selected with both thresholds and you specify only
        Low threshold
        or
        High threshold
        or none of these. The above error message also displays if one of the check boxes is selected and you do not enter any value.
    • Alarm severity level:
      select the severity of the alarm to be issued when the threshold is breached.
  • Alarm when ‘traffic’ less than or equal to:
    issues alarms with the selected severity level when traffic is less than or equal to the defined value on the selected interface:
    • Inbound traffic:
      alarms are issued when inbound traffic is less than or equal to defined value.
    • Outbound traffic:
      alarms are issued when outbound traffic is less than or equal to defined value.
    • Both interfaces:
      alarms are issued when both inbound and outbound traffic is less than or equal to defined value.
    • Any interface:
      alarms are issued if either inbound or outbound traffic is less than or equal to defined value.
  • Max (Extreme) value:
    enter the maximum value for the traffic and also select the unit of this value.
  • Action required:
    select the action to be performed when the maximum value is breached:
    • No Action:
      The probe generates the alarms and QoS with the actual values, if applicable fields are selected.
    • Use max Value:
      The defined maximum value is used in alarms and QoS.
    • Discard:
      The defined maximum value is discarded. No alarm related to the threshold is sent. In addition, NULL QoS is sent.
    • Zero:
      The zero is used in alarms and QoS.
  • Send Alarm when Max value is breached:
    sends an alarm when defined maximum value is breached, if selected. This field is enabled only when maximum value for traffic
    Max (Extreme) value
    is provided.
Packets Tab
The fields in the
Packets
tab are explained as follows:
  • Error Packets
    • Publish Quality of Service (QoS):
      generates QoS for the number of packets that could not be transmitted because of errors. You can define the unit for displaying this QoS. For example, you can publish the QoS as packets per second.
    • Enable monitoring:
      monitors the number of packets with errors on the interface, as follows:
      • Max. error packets:
        enter the maximum number of packets with errors on the interface that are allowed before an alarm is issued. Alarms can be raised for pkts\s, pkts, and percent.
      • Alarm severity level:
        select the severity level of the alarms, issued when the maximum monitoring threshold is breached.
      • Max (Extreme) value:

  • Discarded Packets
    • Publish Quality of Service (QoS):
      generates the QoS for the number of discarded packets for the selected interface. You can define the unit for displaying this QoS. For example, you can publish the QoS as packets per second.
    • Enable monitoring:
      monitors the number of discarded packets on the interface.
      • Max. discarded:
        enter the maximum number of packets discarded by the interface that are allowed before an alarm is issued. Alarms can be raised for pkts\s, pkts, and percent.
      • Alarm severity level:
        select the severity level of the alarms, issued when the maximum monitoring threshold is breached.
      • Max (Extreme) value:
        enter the threshold for the extreme maximum number of discarded packets from the interface that are allowed before an alarm is issued.
      • Extreme severity level:
        select the severity level of the alarms issued when the extreme maximum monitoring threshold is breached.
        The probe is unable to provide a correct value for the current percentage of interface errors. This happens when you have enabled the monitoring of errors and discarded packets. For more information about how to enable the probe to calculate the correct value for current percentage of interface errors, see interface_traffic Troubleshooting.

    monitors the length of the output packet queue on the interface.
  • Max. packets in the output queue before alarm:
    enter the maximum number of packets in the output queue on the interface allowed before an alarm is issued.
  • Alarm severity level:
    select the severity level of Queue length alarms.
State Tab
The fields in the

tab are explained below:
  • Interface Operational State:
    enables monitoring of the current operational state of the interface.
    • Publish Quality of Service (Qos):
      generates the QoS for the state of the interface.
    • Enable monitoring:
      monitors the operational state of the interface.
    • Legal states:
      select the expected states of the interface from the multiple options provided. A

      state indicates that no packets can be passed. If the current state of the interface is not in the list of legal states, an alarm with the selected severity level is generated.
    • Alarm severity level:
      select the severity level of alarms when the state is not as expected.
  • Interface Administrative State:
    enables monitoring of the desired state of the interface.
    • Publish Quality of Service:
      generates the QoS for the state of the interface.
    • Enable monitoring:
      monitors the operational state of the interface.
    • Legal states:
      select the expected states of the interface from the multiple options provided. If the current state of the interface is not in the list of legal states, an alarm with the selected severity level is generated.
    • Alarm severity level:
      select the severity level of alarms when the state is not as expected.
  • Ignore Operational State when admin state is not as expected:
    ignores the operational state when admin state is not as expected, when selected. This check box is enabled only when both
    Enable monitoring
    check boxes are selected.
Advanced Tab
The fields in the
Advanced
tab are explained as follows:
  • Interface speed:
    select the interface speed for monitoring, as follows:
    • Automatic detection:
      speed of the interface is automatically detected.
    • Manual override:
      specify a value and override the detected interface speed. The speed can be specified using one of these units: B/s, Kb/s, Mb/s, and Gb/s. The speed rate specified is equally divided on inbound and outbound traffic.
    • Manual override per direction:
      overrides the speed individually per direction. The speed can be specified using one of these units: B/s, Kb/s, Mb/s, and Gb/s.
  • Override Outbound Traffic Monitoring:
    manually overrides the high and low thresholds for
    Outbound Traffic
    monitoring.
  • QoS Destination:
    overrides the QoS target value with interface name, description, and user-specified description.
  • User specified description:
    enter the custom description. When listing the interfaces for a host, this description appears in the User column. This option makes it easier to distinguish between different interfaces.
