Follow these steps:
  1. Click the
    Infrastructure
button at the top of the Admin Console screen.
  2. Select the name of the robot where you deployed the zdataservice probe.
  3. Find the
    zdataservice
probe in the list of probes and click the drop-down arrow next to the probe name. Select the
    Configure
     option.
  4. The Probe Configuration window opens.
You can select to work with CIM Configuration or z/VM Configuration
Configure CIM Server Connections
You configure the CIM Data Collector to connect to z/OS Common Information Model (CIM) servers to gather metrics for the zops monitoring probe and the zstorage monitoring probe. The CIM server supplies the data to the Data Service probe. You can configure the Data Service probe to connect to one or more CIM servers from the LPARs where you want to gather metrics.
Follow these steps:
  1. Click the
    CIM Configuration
     folder in the left pane.
The CIM Configuration information appears in the right pane.
  2. Specify the value for the
    Connection Timeout
parameter. Enter a value in seconds to specify the timeout.
    Default:
     600 seconds
  3. Click
    New
to add a new row to the list of CIM Server connections.
  4. Enter values for the following parameters in the lower pane:
    • Host
Specifies the host name or IP address of the CIM server.
    • Protocol
Specifies the protocol to use when connecting to CIM. Select https or http. This value should be set to https, but can be temporarily configured with http for debugging purposes.
    • Port
Specifies the port number of the CIM server that serves data.
  5. Click
    Save
     then click
    OK
     to refresh the configuration.
The CIM Configuration page refreshes with the information you just entered and the zdataservice probe automatically restarts.
  6. Close the Probe Configuration page.
Configure the Data Collector for z/VM Connections
You configure the Data Collector for z/VM to connect to z/VM systems to gather metrics for the zvm monitoring probe. You can configure the Data Service probe to connect to one or more z/VM servers from where you want to gather metrics.
Before you proceed, verify that a Data Collector for z/VM and Monitor Record Collector are installed on the z/VM.
Follow these steps:
  1. Click the
    z/VM Configuration
     folder in the left pane.
The z/VM Configuration information appears in the right pane.
  2. Specify the value for the
    Connection Timeout
parameter. This parameter specifies the timeout value (in seconds) after which the Data Service Probe stops the connection if there is no response from the Data Collector for z/VM.
    Note:
When the collector sends timeout messages, we recommend that you increase the value of this parameter.
    Default:
     10 seconds
  3. Click
    New
to add a new row to the list of z/VM Connections.
  4. Enter values for the following parameters in the lower pane:
    • Host
Specifies the host name or IP address of the Data Collector for z/VM.
    • Port
Specifies the port number on which the Data Collector for z/VM runs the REST API.
  5. Click
    Save
     then click
    OK
     to refresh the configuration.
The z/VM Configuration page refreshes with the information you just entered and the zdataservice probe automatically restarts.
  6. Close the Probe Configuration page.
