Availability Reports

This article describes the CA Business Intelligence (CABI) Availability reports. Availability reports enable you to view the availability and reachability for the selected devices (cloud, virtual, and physical) and the groups containing them. Availability implies that a particular device power is up and active. Reachability implies that a particular device is reachable through an ICMP ping. Maintenance implies the percent of time a particular device is under scheduled maintenance for the selected duration.

Availability Reports Specific Requirements
The following requirements exist:
Navigate to Availability Reports
The reports are located in the CABI Server repository at /public/ca/uim/reports/library/availability/device/availability_by_device for Availability by Device reports and /public/ca/uim/reports/library/availability/group/availability_by_group for Availability by Group reports. 
Follow these steps:
  1. Log in to the CABI Server and navigate to
    Home
    ,
    Reports
    ,
    View list
    .
    The list of reports you can generate are populated.
  2. Select
    Availability by Device
    .
    The Availability by Device report viewer appears.
  3. From the Options pane,
    Select Device
    and the
    Time Range
    and.click
    Apply
    to generate the report.
  4. (Optional) Click
    Save
    if you want to view the report with the same options later.
  5. Select
    Availability by Group
    .
    The Availability by Group report viewer appears.
  6. From the Options pane,
    Select Group
    ,
    Group Devices
    , and the
    Time Range
    and click
    Apply
     to generate the report.
Availability by Device Report
Availability by Device report shows availability, maintenance, and reachability of the selected device. The following image shows an example of the Availability by Device report:

Availability by Group Report
Availability by Group report shows availability, maintenance, and reachability of the selected group. The report shows all similar assets together. For example, all AWS devices together, all Azure devices together, all VM devices together, and then all physical devices together as present in the group.

Metrics for Availability Reports
For Cloud and Virtual Devices, the Power State (Device up and Device down status) is calculated using the QoS_
<Probes_Name>
_INSTANCE_POWER_STATE metric.
For Physical Devices monitored by deploying local robot, the Device Availability is calculated using the new hub-level metric added with hub 7.96 and later. Device up-time is calculated as robot up-time, assuming that if the robot is up, then the device is also up and available.
We recommend you to check both parameters Device power-up and Device being reachable to comprehensively understand the device availability.
The availability report requires the following metrics:
  • QOS_SERVICE_AVAILABILITY (This metric is fetched using the ICMP_Probe)
  • For Cloud and Virtual Devices, the Power State (Device up/Down status) is calculated using the following metrics:
    • Azure - QOS_AZURE_INSTANCE_POWER_STATE
    • Aws - QOS_AWS_INSTANCE_POWER_STATE
    • VMWare - QOS_VMWARE_INSTANCE_POWER_STATE
    • Nutanix - QOS_NUTANIX_INSTANCE_POWER_STATE
    • HyperV - QOS_HYPERV_INSTANCE_POWER_STATE
    • Openstack - QOS_OPENSTACK_INSTANCE_POWER_STATE
