Stop Services on Linux Servers

To prepare for the database backups, stop the services on the Linux Harvester servers that are in your
Flow Monitoring
deployment.
Follow these steps:
  1. Log in as root or with a sudo user account.
  2. Stop the nfa_harvester (
    Flow Monitoring
Harvester) service on each Linux Harvester server.
  3. Wait 15 minutes for data file processing to complete.
  4. Stop the following services on each Linux Harvester server:
    • mysql (NetQoS MySQL)
    • nfa_collpollws (
      Flow Monitoring
      Collection and Poller Webservices)
    • nfa_dataretention (
      Flow Monitoring
      Data Retention)
    • nfa_filewebservice (
      Flow Monitoring
      File Server)
    • nfa_mysqlCSE (NetQoS NQMySql Custom Storage Engine
    • nfa_poller (
      Flow Monitoring
      Poller)
    • nfa_proxies (
      Flow Monitoring
      DNS/SNMP Proxies)
    • nfa_reaper (
      Flow Monitoring
      Reaper)
    The services stop.
  5. Wait 15 minutes for the Time BIN (.tbn) file collection and processing to complete.
  6. Check the following directory on the NFA console server:
    <install_path>
    \Netflow\datafiles\HarvesterWork
    When the
    HarvesterWork
directory is empty, you can back up the database. The services are restarted automatically during the upgrade process.
