Deployment of
CA SystemEDGE
agents to a nonstandard port requires configuration of several settings. Ensure that the manager can discover and manage the system after deployment.
Follow these steps:
  1. Update the package wrapper.
If you use the remote deployment solution, first configure the package wrapper to specify the port to use.
  2. In the user interface, navigate to
    Provisioning
    ,
    Deployment
    .
  3. Change the
    Port
    field.
  4. You can also update the Write Community string.
  5. Update SNMP Community strings in
    Server Automation
    .
To monitor and manage a machine successfully using a nonstandard port, the Manager requires  the appropriate Port and Write Community string combination. To provide this information, complete one of the following actions:
    • To update global SNMP settings, navigate to
      Administration
      ,
      SNMP,
then add a new entry with the appropriate SNMP community string/port combination.
    • To update server-specific SNMP settings, navigate to
      Policy
      ,
      Explore
      ,
      Machine_Name
      ,
      Metrics
      ,
      SNMP Settings
and add a new entry for the required port/write community string.
After you update these settings, you can deploy or install the agent as usual. The
CA SystemEDGE
Platform Management Module then uses the custom port/ write community string combination to discover, monitor, and manage the server.
Reconfigure Ports for CA SystemEDGE Agents
To reconfigure the port for the
CA SystemEDGE
agent, reinstall the agent. After you reinstall the agent, the settings remain unchanged with a provision to edit the details of the port to reconfigure.
