Apply Configuration Policy

After you create configuration policy, apply it to machines throughout the enterprise. When you apply configuration policy,  pushes a compiled configuration file that contains all policy settings to all specified agent machines. The application implements the new policy after an automatic agent warm start.

After you create configuration policy, apply it to machines throughout the enterprise. When you apply configuration policy, 
Server Automation
 pushes a compiled configuration file that contains all policy settings to all specified agent machines. The application implements the new policy after an automatic agent warm start.
You can reapply the policy to machines in the following cases:
  • You updated the policy.
  • You were notified that the configuration changed on an agent machine.
Follow these steps:
  1. Click the Resources tab, open the Configure pane, expand Policies, and select 
    CA SystemEDGE
     or Service Response.
  2. From the table on the Available Policies page, select the policy.
  3. On the Summary page, select a policy to apply.
    Server Automation
    displays the policy details in the right pane.
  4. Click Action and select Apply.
    The application displays tabs appear for selecting machines on which to apply the policy.
    • Use the
      Update machines running this policy
      tab to apply the policy to machines that already run it.
    • Use the
      Apply to Machines not running this Policy
      tab to apply policies to machines without a policy or that use a different policy.
  5. (Optional) Complete one of the following options from the
    Update machines running this policy
    tab:
    • Select
      Update all machines using this policy
      to deploy the policy on all machines that currently run it. This option is useful if you made configuration policy changes that you want to apply globally.
    • Select
      Update selected groups of machines
      to update only machines that meet any of the following criteria:
      • Machines running an out-of-date version of the policy.
      • Machines where policy exceptions were applied. Policy exceptions occur when a user applies a point configuration change to an agent that is not represented in the applied policy
      • Machines running the current version of the policy.
      • Machines with configuration errors for the policy.
    • Select
      Advanced (manually select machines)
      to add the machines manually in the Select Machines pane to which to reapply the policy.
  6. (Optional) From the
    Apply to Machines not running this Policy
    tab, select the machines to which to apply the policy.
  7. Click Apply Policy.
    The policy application is initiated.
