Create a Log File Monitor

  1. Click the Resources tab, open the Configure pane, expand Policies, and click 
    CA SystemEDGE
    .
  2. From the table on the Available Policies page, select the policy.
  3. On the Summary page for the policy, click Monitors.
    The Summary page lists the monitors that the policy manages.
  4. Click Log File.
  5. On the Log File Monitors page, click + (New) on the Log File Monitors toolbar.
  6. On the Log File Monitor Details: New dialog, configure the following process settings:
    • Index
      Defines the table index to use.
    • Monitor Type
      Specifies the monitor type to use.
    • Platform
      Specifies the platform.
    • Description
      (Optional) Defines a description of the monitor.
    • Log File/Directory Name
      Defines the path to the file or the directory to monitor.
    • Search Filter
      Specifies the search filter.
    • Interval
      Defines (in minutes) the evaluation interval for the monitor.
    • Severity
      Specifies the significance of the monitor on a match.
    The Maintenance Window page lets you define the following settings:
    • State
      Specifies whether the monitor maintenance entry is active or inactive.
    • Start Time
      Defines the start time when the monitor is switched off and the maintenance window begins.
    • Stop Time
      Defines the stop time when the monitor is switched on and the maintenance window ends.
    The Optional Settings page lets you define the flags that you can use for the various monitor entries or history control entries.
  7. Click Save
    The Log File Monitor settings are saved.
  8. Click Save Policy.
    The Log File Monitor is loaded to the Policy.
