Developer Roles and Permissions
There are two roles in the
API Portal
for developers: Organization administrator and developer. Here the word "organization" refers to a group of developers. In the
API Portal
, organization administrators have more permissions than other developers. The following table shows which tasks organization administrators and developers have permission to perform.

* This feature is available if system administrators enable single sign-on (SSO) in the
API Portal
.
API Portal administrators can give organization administrators and developers permission to manage APIs directly assigned to their organization. The permission doesn't apply to public APIs with no organization assigned or those assigned to other organizations, or private APIs assigned to other organizations through an Account Plan.
Developers with Multiple Organizations and Roles
If system administrators set up SSO for the
API Portal
, they can assign developers to multiple organizations.
The information in this section only applies to developers assigned to multiple organizations.
Developers can have the organization administrator role in one organization and the developer role in another organization. Each developer is assigned a default organization.
The content that the
API Portal
displays to logged in developers depends on the context. The context consists of the organization and role in the organization.
When developers with multiple organizations log in to the
API Portal
, the
API Portal
displays content in the context of their role in their default organization. The developer can switch to another organization without needing to log in again. Then the
API Portal
 displays content for that context.
To switch to another of your organizations:
  • On the user menu at the top right corner of any page, select the organization. The
    API Portal
displays the Dashboard for the selected organization.
To see which role you have in an organization:
  1. Switch to the organization.
  2. Select
     Administration
    A
    Users
page shows the list of users. See the
    Role
     column.
