Custom assertions are optional additions to the standard assertions available from Layer7 for the
Layer7 API Gateway
. A custom assertion integrates the Gateway with a third-party application or authentication system, allowing clients to utilize existing infrastructure for particular Web service security tasks.
Layer7 develops new custom assertions in response to client or industry needs. Contact Layer7 support for custom assertion requests or to verify whether a custom assertion is compatible with your Gateway installation. You can also create your own custom assertions using the instructions under Create Custom Assertions.
Beginning with version 10.0, the API Gateway supports the Apply DFDL Transformation purchased custom assertion. All other purchased custom assertions have been deprecated. If you must retrieve their installation files or reference installation documentation for those assertions, please refer to the Distribution Archives (in Release Notes) for Gateway version 9.4.
Compatibility
The Custom Assertion SDK, which is used to create all custom assertions, is compatible with all form factors of the
Layer7 API Gateway
. This SDK is located on the distribution archives described in the Distribution Archives (see Release Notes for Gateway version 9.3).
Custom assertions are compatible with all hardware and virtual appliances, and Software Gateways running on RPM-based Linux platforms.
Upgrading a Gateway with Custom Assertions
If your
Layer7 API Gateway
contains a custom assertion, verify with Support before upgrading. This ensures that you have the latest version of the custom assertion and it will not cause issues for the upgrade.
