Revert Changes from a Backup

Within the admin repository, API Server creates archives, or backups, in the backups/timeline directory each time a TeamSpace user changes your API. API Server creates a backup folder for each timeline using the format <yyyymmdd.hhmmss>. You can diff or compare the timeline with your current repository. You can restore a backup of the entire API or restore sections–such as resources, rules, or functions–to your working repository.

If you are using the single-user version of
Layer7 Live API Creator
that is based on Jetty (the demonstration package) for local development, the directory location of the admin repository is the
%JETTY_HOME%/caliveapicreator/jetty.repository
 directory.
If you have not directed the server to back up what is in memory when you start your server (you have not added the
LAC_REPOSITORY_ROOT
option before starting your server), complete the following procedure. If you are use the demonstration package for local development, this option is enabled by default. For other installations, this option is not enabled by default. You must enable backups by adding the
DLAC_REPOSITORY_BACKUP
 and
LAC_REPOSITORY_BACKUP_DAYS_TO_KEEP
 options before starting your server.
For more information about these options, see API Server Startup Options.
Follow these steps:

  1. Select the backup directory or files that have the changes that you would like to revert in your API.
  2. Stop API server.
  3. Copy the backup directory or files to your working repository.
  4. Restart API server.
Your changes are reverted from a backup into your API.
