Configure the Mainframe Team Center User Interface
The Mainframe Team Center (MTC-DBM) user interface is a graphical interface that lets you view and analyze DB2 data and metrics in a web browser.
Mainframe Team Center - Database Management for Db2 for z/OS(MTC-DBM) is a web-based interface for the
CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 for z/OS. Use the MTC-DBM user interface to explore Db2 application performance data and Db2 object administration data in a web browser.
MTC-DBM is available for use with the installation of any product in the
CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 for z/OSproduct suite. However, you can only view data from the following products in the user interface:
- CA Detector® for DB2 for z/OS(CA Detector)
- CA RC/Query® for DB2 for z/OS(CA RC/Query)
A high-level summary is provided of the software requirements, prerequisites, security requirements, and configuration steps. Each step indicates the role of the individual that is most suited to perform the step. For this process, the following roles are required:
- Network Administrator
- Security Administrator
- Systems Programmer
Address Software Requirements
The following table lists the required software for the MTC-DBM user interface:
Update all software components to their
latest available PTF level.
Java must be running on all z/OS systems. Java 8 SR6 FP5 is the lowest supported version.
CA Common Services for z/OS (CCS) ESM Microservice
The ESM Microservice provides user authentication, authorization, and PassTicket generation.
CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 for z/OS20.0
MTC-DBM is packaged as part of the
CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 for z/OSBase Install (FMID CINSK00). MTC-DBM is delivered as a series of PTFs that are applied to the base installation. See Mainframe Team Center Requirements in Software Requirements. To ensure that you have access to all current capabilities, ensure that you have applied all available maintenance.
For supported browsers, see Browser Requirements.
After you address the software requirements in the previous table, the CCS ESM Microservice and the following CA Database Management Solutions for Db2 for z/OS products and components have been installed and configured on the target subsystem:
We also assume that you have installed and configured the CCS ESM Microservice as described in the CCS documentation.
You must now address the Database Management Data Service (DBM Data Service) and MTC-DBM prerequisites and security requirements before proceeding with the post-installation configuration tasks.
Before you begin the configuration process, use the following checklist to ensure that you have addressed the following MTC-DBM prerequisites.
The security-related tasks can be performed by a security administrator in parallel with the other prerequisite tasks. These tasks include configuring Xnet to integrate with the DBM Data Service. Some Xnet security settings may have been previously configured.
Describes how the various Mainframe Team Center components communicate with each other.
Gather required configuration data and then use it to complete the configuration steps.
Create the security definitions that are associated with the Xnet, DBM Data Service, and MTC-DBM started tasks. Sample security jobs are provided. This step includes configuring Xnet to integrate with the DBM Data Service.
After you address the prerequisites in the previous table, you are ready to configure the MTC-DBM user interface.
Complete Configuration Tasks
On the Product Customization panel (INSCUSTP), select
MTC(Mainframe Team Center UI) and press Enter. Review the customization information in option 1, and then use option 2 to launch the DBM for Db2 Configuration Utility.
Define the configuration environment and then complete the following steps:
Verify the Installation
After the configuration steps are complete, complete the following tasks to verify the installation:
- Verify the API ML startup configuration in Integrate with the API Mediation Layer
After successful verification, you are ready to start using the MTC-DBM UI. Go to Using Mainframe Team Center User Interface.
(Optional) Configure Multiple LPARs
To configure the Mainframe Team Center user interface on multiple LPARs using the same runtime libraries, complete the following steps:
These steps assume that you have already configured Xmanager and the required CA Database Management Solutions for Db2 for z/OS on the LPAR.
- Complete Xnet customization tasks.
- Specify environment settings for the new LPAR in the Connections to Xnet Servers parameter group. For more information, see Customize Using the DBM for Db2 Configuration Utility.
- Configure Xnet to integrate with the DBM Data Service. The PassTicket must be the same across all LPARs.
