NetSpy General Alerts

NetSpy
creates general alerts when measurements from either
NetSpy
VTAM interface data or NCP interface data fall outside user-defined thresholds.
rm
These alerts are useful for identifying excessive response times, over or under utilized resources, and congested virtual routes.
The
NetSpy
user can define these alert thresholds and route them to SMF either through the "Define Monitors" option on the
NetSpy
Main Menu, or by specifying MONITOR statements in the
NetSpy
ALERTPRM member or file. The latter method is recommended for on-going exception monitoring, because MONITOR statements are executed each time
NetSpy
is activated.
NetSpy
writes general alerts to the
NetSpy
user-defined SMF record with a subtype of X. These records are input into the Network Incident File (SNTNIN) in
MICS
.
