Netspy NCP Interface
The
NetSpy
NCP Interface records volume, performance, and reliability data that is collected by a function in the Network Control Program (NCP) called the NPA Logical Unit (NPALU).rm
The NPALU collects data and reports it to the
NetSpy
NCP Interface in the same way it performs this function for Tivoli NPM. NetSpy
then records this data in subtype N of its SMF record (or the VM equivalent).Information may be collected for one or more NCPs, lines, physical units (PUs), or logical units (LUs). Start parameters within
NetSpy
permit the installation to control the data collected from various NCPs.Because data from the
NetSpy
NCP Interface is so similar to that provided by Tivoli NPM Network Subsystem, the MICS Network Analyzer
writes this data directly into four SNA Network files that are shared with NPM Network data:Information that is supplied by the
NetSpy
NCP Interface includes the following data types:NCP Data
NCP information includes the CCU cycle speed, used cycle time, buffer and channel queue statistics, and the amount of time in slowdown.
Line, Controller, and Terminal Data
Information for lines, controllers, and terminals includes message and character traffic counts, outbound queue statistics, and poll, error, and retransmission counts.
