Install and Upgrade

Install or UpgradeXCOM™ Data Transport® for AS/400 11.0 on Windows/Linux server:
The
XCOM Data Transport
installation package is available in the Broadcom Support portal. Download the product installation package and install on Windows or Linux server. Use the same installer to do the fresh installation as well as to upgrade the instance to the latest release.

Download ISO Image

Perform the following steps to download the iso image to your Windows/Linux server:
  1. Log in to Broadcom Support.
  2. Select
    Mainframe Software
    and then select
    Downloads
    tab.
  3. Enter
    XCOM
    in the
    Search Your Product
    field.
  4. Select
    XCOM
    from the search results.
  5. Select
    XCOM Data Transport
    for AS/400 i5/OS - OS/400 RISC
    to download the ISO image
    DVD02111642E.iso
    to your local machine.
  6. Click
    HTTP Via Internet Browser
    to download the product package

    .
    Download the COM FOR AS400 RISC COVER LTR 11.0 SP02 PDF file to view the package information and instructions.
  7. To access the iso image content, double-click the downloaded DVD02111642E.iso file.
The product package is ready to use to install or upgrade the product.

Install/Upgrade
XCOM Data Transport

As a security officer (QSECOFR), perform the following steps to complete the installation:
  1. Log in to IBM iSeries(AS/400) server, and create a library.
  2. Issue the following six commands to create empty savf files.
    • crtsavf <new lib>/XINSTR11
    • crtsavf <new lib>/XCOMR11
    • crtsavf <new lib>/XCOMPASE
    • crtsavf <new lib>/XCR11ENU
    • crtsavf <new lib>/XCR11ENP
    • crtsavf <new lib>/XCR11JPN
  3. Connect from Windows/Linux to the AS 400 ftp server.
  4. Change to binary mode, type binary.
  5. cd to <
    new lib
    >, and lcd to the extracted directory/mounted virtual drive.
  6. Copy all the six files one after another to <
    new lib
    > using the put command, for example: put xcomr11.
  7. Switch to AS 400 terminal emulator.
  8. Type the following command and press F4:
    RSTLIB
    The initial
    Restore Library Parameter
    list appears.
  9. Fill in the following values on the initial Restore Library parameter list, and press F10:
    • Saved Library = XINSTR11
    • Device = *SAVF
      The rest of the Restore Library parameters are displayed.
  10. Edit the following prompt values by typing in the following data. Press Enter.
    • Save File = XINSTR11
      Library = <
      new lib
      >
    • Database member option = *ALL
    • Allow object differences = *ALL
    All the values are accepted and the XINSTR11 library is added to your disk.
    <
    new lib
    > is the library where you saved the downloaded files.
  11. Type the following command and press Enter:
    ADDLIBLE XINSTR11
    The XINSTR11 library is added to the library list.
  12. Enter the following on the command line:
    INSTALL
    A prompt is displayed for a choice of screen text language.
  13. Choose the language for textual screen displays (ENU (mixed case), ENP (upper case), and JPN (Japanese Kanji)) press Enter.
    The following prompt is appears:
    CA-XCOM program library
    If the program library does not exist, the installer performs a new installation. If the program library exists, the installer upgrades the existing library.
  14. Accept the default value of XCOMR11 for the program library or replace with a value from your worksheet and press Enter.
    • If you are performing an upgrade installation, the following prompt is displayed:
      Upgrade?
      Enter YES.
      The following prompt is displayed:
      Device?
    • If you are performing a new installation, the following prompt is displayed:
      Device?
  15. Enter
    *SAVF
    for the device.
    The following other prompts are displayed:
    • Product save file
      Library
    • Language save file
      Library
    • PTF save file
      Library
    The following additional prompts are displayed for fresh installallation only:
    • Copy files from library
    • Add pgm library to QUSRLIBL?
    • Authority to objects in lib
    • All APPC devices to XCOM2SBS?
  16. Edit the product and language save file prompts with the appropriate
    XCOM Data Transport
    save file names and their respective library prompts with
    <new-lib>
    where the saved files are located. If this is a fresh installation, accept the default values for the rest of the prompts or replace with the values in your worksheet and press Enter.
    Additional messages about the progress of the installation procedure appear at the bottom of the screen. On the completion of the installation or upgrade, the following message appears, followed by the
    XCOM Data Transport
    configuration services screen.
    On successful installation
    INSTALLATION PROCEDURE COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY.
    On successful upgrade
    The following message appears, followed by the
    XCOM Data Transport
    configuration services screen
    CA XCOM UPGRADED SUCCESSFULLY TO R11.0.2

This parameter pertains to remotely initiated SNA transfers only. If only remotely initiated TCP/IP transfers will be used, set this value to *NO.

If you are running multiple copies of
XCOM Data Transport
, only one library should be in QUSRLIBL.
