Ethernet Advanced
On the
Advanced Ethernet
tab, you can modify Ethernet parameter settings. Ethernet connection parameter descriptions describes the Ethernet parameter settings that are available.
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Ethernet Interface 1 | |
Description | Provides a free-form description for the Ethernet interface. |
Auto Negotiation | If Auto Negotiation is enabled, the appliance communicates with the network to automatically determine the fastest common communication speed and duplex mode. |
Speed | If Auto Negotiation is disabled, specify the appliance network speed. |
Duplex | If Auto Negotiation is disabled, specify the appliance duplex mode. Ensure that the specified duplex mode matches your network. |
Enable TCP Segmentation Offload | If Enable TCP Segmentation Offload is checked, the NIC handles TCP segmentation instead of the CPU. This option can improve throughput for high-volume, high-bandwidth networks. |
Maximum transmission unit | Works in tandem with the TCP segmentation offload. You can enter a value from 512 bytes to 1500 bytes. When TSO is enabled and the default maximum transmission unit is blank, the value is whatever the NIC (network interface card) specifies for its maximum value. Typically, this value is 1500 bytes maximum for an Ethernet link. When you change this value, you must then restart the Control Center using the service controlcenter restart command. |
