Standalone Quarantine Workflow: Backup and Restore

Use the standalone quarantine functionality to back up and restore Symantec Messaging Gateway quarantine data.
Review the following high-level steps to familiarize yourself with the backup and restore workflow using standalone quarantine.
Backup and Restore
The following steps assume that you have configured a Control Center that has an active quarantine instance, and then added a remote quarantine instance that is inactive. A typical workflow for backup and restore is as follows.
  1. In the host Control Center, navigate to
Administration > Hosts > Configuration > Host Configuration
    .
  2. From the
    Host role
    list, select
    Quarantine
    , and then click
    Add
    .
  3. Follow the steps in the
    Add Scanner/Quarantine Server Wizard
to add a new standalone (remote) quarantine instance. Ensure that the
    Quarantine Status
    for this new instance is
    Inactive
    .
  4. From the list of hosts on the
Administration > Hosts > Configuration > Host Configuration
page, select the Control Center's active quarantine, and then click
    Deactivate
    .
  5. Navigate to
    Administration > Hosts > Version
and perform a backup of the first (non-remote) quarantine instance. See Backup Now for more information about performing quarantine backups.
  6. On the
Administration > Hosts > Configuration > Host Configuration
page's list of hosts, select the remote quarantine server and click
    Activate
    .
