Quick-start checklist for
Cloud Workload Protection

Steps you must follow to get started with
Cloud Workload Protection
.
For the
AWS
instances, you can use the
Cloud Workload Protection
Get Started wizard to quickly set up a connection and automate agent installation.
1. Configure a connection with the cloud service provider
Set up a connection and authorize
Cloud Workload Protection
to access and get details of the instances in
AWS
,
Azure
, or
Google Cloud Platform
.
2. View the imported virtual instances
As soon as you create the connection with the cloud service provider,
Cloud Workload Protection
starts discovering your instances in the cloud. You can then view the instances in the
Cloud Workload Protection
console.
3. Install an agent to start protecting the instances
Cloud Workload Protection
provides separate agents for each supported platform. Go to the
Settings > Downloads
page of the
Cloud Workload Protection
console. Select the right platform, variant, and download the relevant agent that you want to install.
Cloud Workload Protection
also provides an API using which you can download the agent. Refer to the API Portal for more information.
You can also automate agent deployment with the following mechanism:
4. Discover the software stack that is deployed on the instances
Discover the supported software services that are installed on the instance.
5. Create, and apply policy group to protect the instance
Cloud Workload Protection
provides out of the box policy groups for Windows and Unix that you can apply on the instances. You can also create and apply a custom policy group as per your requirement. You can view the recommended policy group and apply the most appropriate policy group.
Cloud Workload Protection
also provides an option in the
Settings > General Settings
that automatically applies the recommended policy group that has the highest ranking. If you keep this setting enabled, the most suitable policy group is automatically applied to an instance once the instance is discovered.
