My Tasks overview

My Tasks eliminates much of the tedious day-to-day analysis, policy tuning, and remediation involved in managing endpoint security for a large enterprise.
Symantec continually analyzes data about your environment and identifies issues that need your attention. When a task is identified, Symantec creates an entry for the task, recommends actions to take, and completes those actions as you direct. The tasks are listed in the
My Tasks > Tasks
page of the console.
The high priority tasks and the pending tasks are highlighted by a number that displays for the
MyTasks
menu on the left pane of the console.
.
You can choose the following actions before you run a task:
  • The action to take, if multiple actions are available.
  • The options to use, if the task includes optional steps.
  • The devices, files, or other items to exclude from the task, if any.
Make sure that you have the appropriate rights on the
My Tasks
page to perform the tasks.
Also, if you do not have permission to perform a specific task for any of the Symantec Endpoint Security features, then you will not have permission to execute the same task in the
Mytasks > Tasks
page either.
To run a task
  1. On the
    My Tasks
    page, select the
    Tasks
    tab.
  2. Select the
    Pending
button to view the tasks that you still need to complete.
Tasks are organized by priority, so that you can attend to high-priority tasks first.
  3. Select the task, which tasks you to the appropriate area of the cloud console to complete the necessary action.
Tasks run in the background until they are complete. After you completed the task, the task moves to the
    Completed
list. For tasks that don't register as done, but you think they are, in the actions menu, select
    Mark as Done
    .
To find tasks based on different criteria
If you want to narrow down the tasks list, you can also search for the tasks based on the severity, the feature, or the type of task (such as a security task or management task).

    My Tasks
    page, select the
    Tasks
    tab.
  2. Do one of the following tasks:
    • Select the
      Quick filter
tab to search on the severity, security, or task type.
    • Select the
      Custom filter
tab to search on feature name, such as SEP Mobile.
  3. Select the criteria you want to display and select
    Apply
    .
To remove a task that you don't plan on completing:
  1. On the
    My Tasks
    page, select the
    Tasks
    tab.
  2. In the actions menu to the right of the task, select
    Ignore
    .
