HTTP or HTTPS and FTP proxy server configuration

Use this section to configure the Symantec agents to use a proxy server for client-to-cloud console communication and client-to-LiveUpdate server communication.
You configure a HTTP or HTTPS proxy server and a FTP proxy server separately.

HTTP or HTTPS Proxy Configuration
  • Do not use a proxy server for HTTP or HTTPS
    No proxy server is used.
  • Use the proxy settings specified in the client browser(default)
    This setting is applicable for Windows only.
    Use the proxy information that is entered into the browser on the client devices. In Internet Explorer, this information appears in

  • Use custom proxy settings
    Use this option for a custom proxy server. Enter the proxy server address and the HTTP or HTTPS listening port on the server. IPv4 addresses and IPv6 addresses are supported.
    • Authentication Required
      Optionally, use the custom proxy server authentication information that you enter here to log on to the server.
      If you specify a proxy with authentication, you must create trusted web domain exceptions for Symantec URLs. The exceptions let your client computers communicate with Symantec Insight and other important Symantec sites. For information about the recommended exceptions, see:
