Symantec Endpoint Protection
client for Linux to a cloud-managed Symantec Agent for Linux, you create an installation package in the cloud console and then run it on the Linux client.
To convert an on-premises
Symantec Endpoint Protection
client for Linux to a cloud-managed Symantec Agent for Linux
  1. (Optional) To check how the client is currently managed, navigate to
    /usr/lib/symantec
    and run the following command:
    ./status.sh
"SEPM" in the reply indicates that the client is managed by the
    Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager
    :
Symantec Agent for Linux Version: 14.3.450.1000
Checking Symantec Agent for Linux (SEPM) status..
  2. Create a cloud-managed agent installation package.
In the cloud console, go to the
    Settings > Installation Package
, and take the steps to download the installation package.
  3. Copy the downloaded package to the Linux device that is managed by the
    Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager
    , make the
    LinuxInstaller
file executable, and then run the
    ./LinuxInstaller
    .
If the agent is already installed, the installation will not be performed. The installer will only enroll the client in the cloud.
  4. To make sure that the conversion was successful, run the
    ./status.sh
    command again.
"CDM" in the reply will indicate that the client is now managed by the cloud console:
Symantec Agent for Linux Version: 14.3.450.1000
Checking Symantec Agent for Linux (CDM) status..
If you want to move the cloud-managed agent back to be managed by
Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager
, you export the installation package from
Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager
, move the installation package to the client and then run the
./LinuxInstaller
again.
