About the device discovery task

A device discovery task appears in
My Tasks
when one of the following conditions is met:
  • The first Windows device enrolls after the creation of your Symantec cloud console account.
  • The first Windows device enrolls in a subnet.
    Any subsequent devices that enroll in the same subnet do not generate a task.
In case your users work from home and every device is potentially in a different subnet, a device discovery task may be created for each device that has been enrolled. However, the cloud console stops creating new device discovery tasks once the limit of 10 device discovery tasks in pending state is reached. If you keep these 10 device discovery tasks in pending state until you finish enrolling your devices, you will avoid the creation of further device discovery tasks.
