Configuring proxy server by using netsh command

Use netsh command to configure a system-wide proxy.
This configuration will affect all applications that uses WinHTTP with default proxy.
  1. To configure proxy sever
  2. Go to
    and type cmd.
  3. Right-click Command prompt and select
    Run as Administrator
  4. Change the directory to the system root.
    For example, If you have a 64-bit machine then change it to C:\Windows\SysWOW64
  5. Type and run the following command:
    netsh winhttp set proxy proxy_server_ip:proxy_port
    A message displays showing the current WinHTTP proxy set to the specified proxy IP address and port.
