Import Software Dialog Box
You can import information from a package to create a new software resource. The imported package will then also be available in the Symantec Management Console.
You must set up the Software Library before you can import software. The Software Library is a centralized repository of software that your organization manages.
You can use simple import mode with drag and drop or advanced mode with more options.

File | Displays a standard Choose File to Upload dialog box from which you can select a file from its current location. The file is added to the Software Library when the software resource is created.You can select this option again to define additional files to include in the package. The selected for inclusion package file may contain folders. For example, a transform file that is associated with an MSI installation. If you want to specify a folder with a structure, you need to add the folder as a ZIP or DMG file. |
New | Lets you create subfolders in the package target location. |
Delete | Lets you delete any files or folders that should not be included in the package. For example, a folder that you selected might contain some files that are not needed. Delete the unneeded files from the package to save bandwidth and time during package downloads. |
Set installation file | Lets you select the specific file that installs the software resource. The file that you specify as the installation file appears in bold type. For supported file types, the installation file is used to generate the software details and the command lines. |
Name | Identifies the software resource. When you import an installation file, the software resource's name is obtained from the package name. If a specific name is not available, the installation file name appears. |
Version | During the import, the field is automatically filled with the company name that is obtained from the installation file. |
Company | During the import, the field is automatically filled with the version that is obtained from the installation file. |
