Files Properties Scan Settings

, you can filter drives, folders, and files when you perform a software inventory scan. By default, all local drives and all folders except the excluded folders on the drives are scanned. When you select a folder, all subfolders are included by default. You can add, edit, or delete items in the list.

Drives tab | On Windows and Mac computers, you can include or exclude the drives for the software inventory scan. By default, all local drives are scanned. In the Include Windows drives or Exclude Windows drives dialog box, you can select the following predefined drive categories:
If the drive that you want to include or exclude does not belong to the predefined category, you can specify the exact drive that is available in the drop-down menu. For example, if you have a DVD RW Drive (F:) and want to scan it, then, on the inventory policy page, you click Advanced > Files Properties Scan Settings > Drives > Include drive , in the drop-down menu, click F: , and then click OK .On UNIX and Linux computers, you can select the file system types that you want to include or exclude for the software inventory scan. |
Folders tab | Lets you select the folders that you want to include or exclude for the software inventory scan. To add a folder to the list, you enter the name in the text box. The text box accepts environment variables, such as %windir% .For UNIX and Linux folders, you can also configure software scan to limit the maximum number of subfolder levels. You can ignore a folder where the count of the files exceeds the given number. |
Files tab | Lets you set a rule to include or exclude files for the software inventory scan. When you include the file rule FileName contains , you should additionally define the file type in same rule to collect information about this file.<part of name> You can also edit, delete, or clone a file from the File rules list. Cloning lets you select a rule, create another copy of a rule in the Software Rules query builder, and configure the rules.For UNIX and Linux platforms, the following properties can be specified in the file rules: File type , File Size , Last Modified Date , and Permissions .For the Mac platform, the following properties can be specified in the file rules: File type , File Size , LastModifiedDate , Permissions , File Content (bundle or file), Product Name , Product Version , and Manufacturer . |
