Description
Type

Platform
Displays the software platform that the administrator has selected for this software resource on the

tab.
(Enhanced user interface only) When the resource gets published to the Software Portal, the resource is only available to the end user who uses the device with the compatible software platform.
This feature is available starting from 8.1 RU5.
Version
Lets you type the full version number of the software release.
When you import a package to create the software resource, the version is obtained from the package.
Company
A default company can be displayed as follows:
  • If the software product that is associated with this software resource has associations with a company, that company is displayed.
  • If this software resource is created by importing an installation package, the company that is associated with the installation package is displayed. During the import, if the company name matches a known-as association or wildcard, it is changed to the known-as company name.
This company takes precedence over the software product’s company.
You might change this name if it is inconsistent with other software resources from this company. For example, if the current entry is MS but other software resources from Microsoft Corporation have a company name of Microsoft.
Display Icon
This option is available starting from 8.1 RU4 and 8.1 RU5.
This option lets you add or edit a custom icon for the software resource.
After you replace a predefined icon with a custom icon, you can no longer use the predefined icon for this software resource.
The following image types are supported: PNG, JPEG, GIF.
A predefined icon identifies each software resource in the Software Catalog. By default, the icon corresponds to the type of the resource:
Software Update
,
Software Component
,
Service Pack
, or
Software Release
.
Icons appear in the Symantec Management Console in the following locations:
  • Custom icons for software resources are displayed in the

Management view and in the Software Catalog.
  • When you add a software resource to a Managed Software Delivery policy, a predefined icon or a custom icon is displayed on the policy page.
  • When you publish a software resource or a Managed Software Delivery policy that delivers the software resource to the Software Portal, a predefined icon or a custom icon is displayed on the enhanced user interface of the Software Portal.
