The General and Scheme Common Setup section of the authentication scheme dialog includes the following fields:
- NameDesignates a name for the authentication scheme.When Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) is used as a policy store, the maximum length for the authentication scheme name is 22 characters.
- DescriptionProvides a description of the authentication scheme.
The scheme common setup identifies the authentication scheme. This part of the general section contains the following fields:
- Authentication Scheme TypeSpecifies the template that you are using for the authentication scheme.
- Protection LevelAllows single sign-on for authentication schemes of equal or lower protection levels within the same policy domain. The protection level also requires additional authentication to access resources with higher protection level schemes.Limits:1 and 1000.Authentication schemes have a default protection level that you can change. Use high protection levels for critical resources and lower-level schemes for commonly accessible resources.
- Password policies enabled for this Authentication SchemeIndicates that configured password policies are associated with the authentication scheme.
Scheme Setup
The Scheme Setup section is where you specify the details of the authentication scheme. The settings include:
- LibraryContains the name of the shared library that processes WS-Federation authentication. Ordinarily, you do not change this value. You can enter the name of a library for a custom authentication scheme that has been written using the <stnmdr> Authentication API.The default shared library is smauthsaml.
