Import Certificates from Metadata File

In the Import Certificates step of the Import Metadata wizard, select the specific the certificate information in the file that you want to import.

In the Import Certificates step of the Import Metadata wizard, select the specific the certificate information in the file that you want to import.
This step is only supported for remote entities. For a local entity, the wizard skips over this step, as it does if the metadata document does not include certificates.
If the selected metadata file with expired certificate entries or entries that are not yet valid, the next dialog lists the expired entries. You cannot select these expired entries. The list is for your reference. When all entries are invalid, the import wizard displays a message so stating.
This table in the dialog contains the following columns:
  • Select
    Represents a private key/certificate entry in the metadata file you want to import for the new entity. Select the entry in the file you want to use.
    If the selected metadata file with expired certificate entries or entries that are not yet valid, the next dialog lists the expired entries. You cannot select these expired entries. The list is for your reference. When all entries are invalid, the import wizard displays a message so stating.
    If there are no certificate entries, the UI skips this step.
  • Show Details
    Displays details about the entry you have selected.
  • Alias
    Identifies an alias to assign to a private key/certificate entry. Use this alias to reference this entry.
    If a certificate is already available in the data store, you cannot specify an alias. The certificate uses the existing alias.

    Alphanumeric string
  • Type
    Indicates whether you are importing a private key/certificate, a trusted certificate, or a certificate authority.
    Options:
    Private Key and Certificate, Certificate Authority, Trusted Certificate
  • Issued To
    Lists the name of the person or organization the certificate is issued to.
  • Usage
    Indicates whether the certificate is used for signing, encryption, or both.

    Signing, Encryption, Signing and Encryption
