Configuring Console settings
You can configure the port, protocol (HTTP or HTTPS), or logging level for the Configuration Console.
Use the
Settings > Console Settings
page to set the port, protocol (HTTP or HTTPS), or logging level for the Configuration Console. After you make changes on this page, the Configuration Console restarts to apply the settings.- To configure the Console Settings:
- From theSettingspage, clickConsole Settings.
- Complete the following fields and clickSubmit:FieldDescriptionPortEnter the port number used by the Configuration Console. Symantec recommends that you use the default port number (8232). If you change the port number, choose any unused port number from 1 through 65535.Be sure to choose a port number that does not conflict with another component or service. If you choose a port number that is being used by another component or service, the Configuration Console cannot start.If you log in to the Configuration Console using the formatmachine host name:port number, be sure to use the port number that you set here.Logging LevelSpecify the preferred logging level for your Configuration Console. Select the appropriate level from the drop-down list:
- DEBUG: The log captures general details, and stack traces of all exception events.
- INFO: The log captures general details that are needed to track how the server is functioning. The Logging component accepts and logs any debug messages from other components.
- WARN: The log captures details of potentially harmful events—rejected transactions and exception events that affect the server.
- ERROR: The log captures details of events that hinder the server or transaction, but which may still allow the server to function (except events that affect the server).
Number of Files to KeepFrom the drop-down list, select the number of previous files to be stored on the server.Log Rotation IntervalSet the interval at which log files roll: at midnight each day, on the first day of the week, or at the beginning of each month.Enable SyslogBy default, VIP Enterprise Gateway writes logs to standard log files. You can configure VIP Enterprise Gateway to use syslog to write logs to a syslog server. SelectYesto enable writing Configuration Console logs to syslog. You must configure Syslog Settings (Logs>Syslog Settings) for this feature to work.ProtocolSelecthttpsto use SSL to secure communications with the Configuration Console. Otherwise, selecthttp.If you select the HTTPS protocol, you must select an SSL key from the list.
