Managing user stores
Configure the user stores and groups that manage VIP Enterprise Gateway users and administrators.
A user store is the LDAP directory that contains your end users' data, such as their user names and passwords. VIP Enterprise Gateway authenticates user credentials using this data, so you must identify this directory to VIP Enterprise Gateway. You can also configure how the Configuration Console accesses user stores, searches for data, and filters user data.
You can configure multiple user stores with VIP Enterprise Gateway. The user stores can be one of the following types:
- Multiple, independent, LDAP servers.
- Multiple sub-domains in an Active Directory forest.
- Different organizational units (OUs) on the same LDAP user store
There is no limit on the number of user stores that you can configure with a VIP Enterprise Gateway instance. However, you may experience a decline in performance as you add user stores to VIP Enterprise Gateway.
You add and manage user stores from the user store tab of the Configuration Console. From this page you can:
