Importing configuration settings

VIP Enterprise Gateway
allows you to reuse the configuration settings among the same version and cross-version from 9.8.4 onwards. You can export the configuration settings from one
VIP Enterprise Gateway
instance and import the settings to the other instances.
  1. To import
    VIP Enterprise Gateway
    configuration settings:
  2. In the Configuration Console on the
    VIP Enterprise Gateway
instance where you want to import the configuration settings, click
    Settings > Import Settings
    .
  3. In the
    Import Settings
    page, click
    Import
. If any configuration settings are already present in the new
    VIP Enterprise Gateway
instance, they appear here. However, you cannot select those settings to import to the new
    VIP Enterprise Gateway
    instance.
  4. In the
    Import Configurations
    panel, click
    Browse
to locate the ZIP file that contains the exported configuration settings.
If you downloaded the checksum file, click Browse to locate the checksum file. Otherwise, click
    Skip Checksum
    .
  5. Click
    Next
    .
  6. The configuration settings that you can import to your target
    VIP Enterprise Gateway
instance are listed on the left. The configuration settings that are already present in the target
    VIP Enterprise Gateway
instance are listed on the right.
De-select any configuration settings on the right that you do not want to import to your
    VIP Enterprise Gateway
instance. LiveUpdate settings are always imported, even if these setting are configured in the target
    VIP Enterprise Gateway
    instance.
  7. Click
    Next
    .
  8. After the settings have been imported, click
    Finish
    .
  9. Once the import process is complete, Symantec recommends you to run the
    vipdiagnostic
tool to resolve any unexpected connectivity issue in
    VIP Enterprise Gateway
    . See the
    Symantec
    VIP Enterprise Gateway
    Installation and Configuration Guide
, available online at the Broadcom TechDocs portal, for details on the
    vipdiagnostic
    tool.
To import the configuration settings to a
    VIP Enterprise Gateway
    instance:
  10. Navigate to
    Settings > Import Settings
    .
  11. Click
    Import
    .
  12. Browse and select the file to be imported. If you downloaded a checksum file with the export settings file, browse to the checksum file.

    • Same version import - You cannot import the settings that are already existing in the
      VIP Enterprise Gateway
instance. These settings will be displayed as read-only on the Import Configuration panel during an import.
    • Cross-version import - After you configure a new instance of
      VIP Enterprise Gateway
, you can import the configuration settings from an existing instance of
      VIP Enterprise Gateway
      .
      VIP Enterprise Gateway
      9.9.1
supports cross-version import from 9.8.4 onwards. If you already have CA certificates on the existing instance of
      VIP Enterprise Gateway
, these CA certificates will be overwritten during the import. However, you cannot restore any components configured in
      VIP Enterprise Gateway
      9.9.1
after performing the cross-version import. All the existing settings will be replaced after the import.
  14. Click
    Finish
to complete the import of the configuration settings.
