Maintaining and Updating Control Compliance Suite using LiveUpdate

The installed CCS components must be periodically updated with the latest content and system patches. Symantec releases system patches and updates for the CCS components. These updates are downloaded using the LiveUpdate mechanism.
LiveUpdate (LU) simplifies maintenance and update of Symantec software. Symantec hosts an online database of all possible product updates. On the CCS console, in the
Jobs
workspace, the
Download Live Updates
job is available. This is a system job. After you run this job, the available CCS updates are downloaded from the Symantec LiveUpdate server to the CCS staging area. You can choose to run this job immediately or periodically. By default, the job is run once every 24 hours, which is also a recommended practice. You can edit these settings.
NOTE
:
The LiveUpdate package for CCS 12.6.1 is available for download from 12.6 onwards.
If you want to upgrade 12.5.1 or 12.5.2 using LiveUpdate, contact Broadcom Support.
The LU Client can use the LiveUpdate Administrator (LUA) for downloading the patches. You can install the LUA on the same LU Client computer or on any computer where Internet access is available. The LiveUpdate Administrator (LUA) is equipped with a distribution mechanism to distribute the updates to a distribution area. To install the latest version of the LU Administrator refer to the following article:
With the Download Live Updates job, the following types of updates are downloaded to the CCS staging area:
  • Product Updates (PU)
These include infrastructure updates, database scripts, and other fixes related to the product infrastructure.
  • Agent Product Updates (APU)
These are infrastructure updates to be installed on CCS agents.
  • Security Content Updates (SCU)
These include new technical standards or regulatory content, updated standards, fixes related to security content used in CCS.
  • Patch Assessment Content Updates (PACU)
These include security updates for the operating systems supported in CCS.
After the updates are downloaded, you can notify users about new downloads that are available for copying and installing on applicable CCS components. You must run the Automatic Updates Installation job to install the updates to the respective CCS components.
You must be in the role of a CCS administrator with Local Administrator privileges to run the LiveUpdate feature.
