Setting up a data collection job
Before you set up a data collection job, you must perform the following tasks in the given order:
- Configure the data collectors based on your model of data collection.
- For raw-data based collection, review the following section and ensure that you have configured at least one of the listed data collectors:If you want to use CCS agents to import assets and collect data, you must first register the CCS Agents with CCS Manager
- For message-based data collection, review the following section and ensure that you have the required configurations ready:
- Import assets
For collecting data on different platforms, the following configurations are required:
- Configure data collection on UNIX platform
- Configure data collection on Windows platform
- Install Oracle Instant Client for data collection on Oracle
You can run a data collection job from the
Standards and Policies
menu.- To set up a data collection job
- Hover over theStandards and Policiesmenu and clickTechnical Standards.
- In the table pane, right-click the standards which you want to run for the data collection job, and then clickSetup Data Collection.
- On theSelect Assetsscreen of theCreate or Edit Data Collection Jobwizard,, type the name of the data collection job in theNamefield
- In theDescriptionbox, type a description for the evaluation job and clickNext.
- Navigate through theAssets Systemfolder and its subfolders and select one or more assets for which you want to set up a data collection.
- ClickAddto add the selected assets to the data collection job and clickNext.
- On theSchedule jobscreen, select any one of the following:
- If you want to run the job after the wizard closes, selectRun now.
- If you want to run the job on a specific date and time, selectRun onand specify the date and time on which you want to run the job.
- If you want to run the job at a specified interval, selectRecurrenceand enter the following information:
- To schedule recurrent runs, select one of the following options:DailyThe following options are available when you selectDaily:
- Start dateLets you specify a date to start the recurrence period.
- Start timeLets you specify a time to start the recurrence period.
- Run every <Number of> daysLets you specify the number of days after which the job is run.
- Limit run durationLets you decide the duration of the job run daily.
WeeklyThe following options are available when you selectWeekly:- Run everyRe-runs the job at regular weekly intervals based on the value that you specify. You must specify a day of the week on which you want the job to run. For example, if you enter2in theRun every <number of> weeksfield and then select the column namedTfor Tuesday, then the job will recur on the first Tuesday of every second week from the date you specify the schedule.
MonthlyThe following options are available when you selectMonthly:- Run every <number of> monthsRe-runs the job at regular monthly intervals based on the value that you specify.
- EveryLets you specify a day or a week of the month on which you want the job to run.For example, if you enter2in theRun every <number of> monthsfield and then selectDayin theEverydrop-down list, then the job will recur on everyday of every second month from the date you specify in the schedule.
- On DaysLets you select the ordinals and specify the calendar days from the drop-down lists.For example, if you enter2in theRun every <number of> monthsfield, select first and third ordinals, and then select Monday, then the job will recur every two months, on the first and third Mondays.
TheStart Dateand theStart Timedo not signify the date and time of the first day of recurrence. TheStart Dateand theStart Timesignify the starting point of the recurring schedule that you have initiated. Additionally, an incremental schedule overrides the main schedule in case of an overlap.
- On theSpecify Notification Detailsscreen, selectSend notificationand type the information for sending the notification and clickNext.
- On theJob Summaryscreen, review all the selections that you made and clickFinish.You can monitor the status of the job in theJobsworkspace.
