Data Profiles
In addition to using the pre-set policy libraries and templates to create policies, you can define your own sets of data to match. Use the
ICE Cloud Console
to create data profiles containing these data sets. ICE Cloud Console
compares your custom data sets to content in files and email messages sent by your users to identify if your users are sending sensitive data. ICE Cloud Console
's data profiles support Indexed Document Matching (IDM). You use IDM to protect confidential information that is stored as unstructured data in files. For example, you can use IDM to detect financial report data stored in Microsoft Word documents, merger and acquisition information stored in PDF files, and source code stored in text files. You can also use IDM to exactly match binary files, such as JPEG images, CAD designs, and multimedia files. In addition, you can use IDM to detect derived content such as text that has been copied from a source document to another file. IDM uses an Index Document Profile to identify the confidential or sensitive source documents that you want in your data set. When you upload the Indexed Document Profile (in the form of an encrypted, password-protected preindex file) to a data profile, the profile is available to apply as a content rule to your policies. The profile can be reused across policies: you can create one data profile and reference it in multiple policies. It is important to note that
Symantec
does not keep a copy of your source documents. The Index Document Profile generated and stored by the ICE Cloud Console
is a generated index of content signatures for the document sources, but is not readable by Symantec
. Use the IDM Indexer Tools to identify and upload the Indexed Document Profile to the
ICE Cloud Console
:- The Remote IDM Indexer catalogs your document sources, and generates an Indexed Document Profile of content signatures used to identify the source content.
- The On-Premises Bridge uploads the Indexed Document Profile to theICE Cloud Console. You initiate the upload when you create or edit a data profile from theData Profilespage.
