Deploying the On-Send Web Add-in for Outlook on Windows Endpoints (Feature Preview)

The on-send web add-in for Outlook enables the DLP Agent to monitor user actions in the New Outlook view in Microsoft Outlook as well as in Outlook Web Access on Windows endpoints. This topic provides instructions for deploying the add-in on Windows endpoints.
As the New Outlook view is currently a Microsoft preview product, Symantec cannot ensure a similar level of functionality as the previously used COM plug-in. Therefore, Symantec is releasing the add-in as a feature preview and does not support its deployment in production environments.
Symantec DLP will continue to support the COM plug-in for monitoring Outlook in the classic view.
Perform the following steps in the Enforce Server administration console.

Step 1: Enable the Outlook Monitoring Channel in the Agent Configuration

On the
Channels
tab of the agent configuration, select the
Outlook
channel to enable monitoring.

Step 2: Enable And Configure the Add-in in the Advanced Agent Settings

On the
Advanced Agent Settings
tab of the agent configuration, configure the following setting:

Enable or disable the on-send web add-in for monitoring the New Outlook view on Windows endpoints.
This option does not affect monitoring through the COM plug-in.

Step 3: Prepare the Win-Outlook-Addin-Manifest-Preview.xml file

The
Win-Outlook-Addin-Manifest-Preview.xml
file contains the URL of the add-in server.
Extract the contents of the Windows agent installation package to a temporary directory. You can obtain the
Win-Outlook-Addin-Manifest-Preview.xml
file from the
Endpoint\Win\x64\add-in
subdirectory.

Step 4: Deploy the Add-in using the Microsoft 365 Admin Center

Follow the instructions in the official Microsoft 365 documentation to deploy the
Symantec for Outlook
add-in to your Windows endpoints.
