Defining macOS application binary names
When you want to monitor macOS applications, you add them to the
Global Application Monitoring
screen using the application binary names. Review support information for a summary of Clipboard monitoring features and support. Clipboard features supported on Mac agents
To define the application binary names for a macOS application:
- Run the application to be monitored.
- Launch the Activity Monitor application.
- Enter the application name to be monitored in the search field at the top right.The DLP Agent only monitors Clipboard Paste operations for 64-bit macOS applications. Confirm that the application you plan to add displays64 bitin theKindcolumn if you plan to monitor the Clipboard Paste channel.
- Double click the application in theProcess Namecolumn to display a dialog. The dialog provides memory, statistics, and open files and ports information for the application.
- Click theOpen Files and Portstab to display details about the application.
- Locate the line that display the complete path for the application. For example, the path for Safari is/Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari.
- Locate and note the binary name following/MacOS/.
- Enter the binary name in theBinary Namefield on theSystem > Agents > Global Application Monitoringscreen.
