Ignoring macOS applications

You can set
Symantec Data Loss Prevention
to ignore the macOS applications that hang or crash as a result of being monitored. Usually you would only set
Symantec Data Loss Prevention
to ignore the applications that your company identifies as business critical. Ignoring these types of applications ensures that they function properly. However, ignoring applications allows for potential data leaks as well.
By default, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Reader are ignored from monitoring on Mac endpoints.
  1. To ignore macOS applications from being monitored:
  2. Record the application name and the binary name of the application you want

    to ignore.
    To obtain this information, open the application on a Mac endpoint and locate the required information on the
    Activity Monitor
    screen.
  3. Go to
    System
    >
    Agents
    >
    Global Application Monitoring
    .
  4. Click
    Add Application
    .
  5. Enter the application name in the
    Name
    field.
  6. Enter the binary name in the
    Binary Name
    field.
  7. Select
    Generic
    in the
    Application Type
    list. You do not make any other selections.
  8. Leave all other selections disabled.
  9. Save your changes.
    Symantec Data Loss Prevention
    ignores the specified application immediately after you save your changes.
