Ignoring macOS applications
You can set
Symantec Data Loss Prevention
to ignore the macOS applications that hang or crash as a result of being monitored. Usually you would only set Symantec Data Loss Prevention
to ignore the applications that your company identifies as business critical. Ignoring these types of applications ensures that they function properly. However, ignoring applications allows for potential data leaks as well.By default, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Reader are ignored from monitoring on Mac endpoints.
- To ignore macOS applications from being monitored:
- Record the application name and the binary name of the application you wantSymantec Data Loss Preventionto ignore.To obtain this information, open the application on a Mac endpoint and locate the required information on theActivity Monitorscreen.
- Go toSystem>Agents>Global Application Monitoring.
- ClickAdd Application.
- Enter the application name in theNamefield.
- Enter the binary name in theBinary Namefield.
- SelectGenericin theApplication Typelist. You do not make any other selections.
- Leave all other selections disabled.
- Save your changes.Symantec Data Loss Preventionignores the specified application immediately after you save your changes.
