Drive Encryption
functionality is installed and you log in to your computer as a new user the first time. You can skip the configuration process, in which case: - Symantec Endpoint Encryptionnotifies you to configureDrive Encryption Self-Recoveryevery time you log in to your system.
- You can also create and answer theDrive Encryption Self-Recoverysecurity questions using the Self-Recovery tab onManagement Agentwhen you are logged on to the system. You can also edit theDrive Encryption Self-Recoverysecurity questions and answers when required using the Self-Recovery Setup screen onManagement Agent.
For improved protection, Symantec recommends that you configure
Drive Encryption Self-Recovery
the first time the Drive Encryption Self-Recovery
setup appears. You might be prompted to configure your Drive Encryption Self-Recovery
security questions again if your policy administrator enables the Windows Password Reset
feature.Consider the following before creating your security questions:
- Think of the security questions that relate to something personal to you. The answer to these questions should be unique and easy to remember.
- Provide only answers to the questions that your policy administrator has already predefined. These predefined questions are not customizable.
- Provide both question and answer when the security question can be customized and is not predefined.
- Create answers within the limited character set. Answers are case-sensitive.
- Each question must have a unique answer. You cannot enter the same answer for more than one question.
- Each answer must be at least 7 characters long.
Drive Encryption Self-Recovery
supports the following character set:- Uppercase: A-Z
- Lowercase: a-z
- Digits: 0-9
- All punctuation symbols on a standard US language keyboard
- To createDrive Encryption Self-Recoverysecurity questions using the setup wizard
- Log in to your system.
- When theSelf Recovery Setupdialog box appears, do one of the following:
- To proceed with the addition of security questions, clickContinue.
- To skip the addition of security questions and close theSelf Recovery Setupdialog box, clickRemind me later.
- In the screen that appears, do the following:
- For the questions that your policy administrator predefines, provide only the answers.
- For the questions that you must define, type the question in theQuestionbox and provide the answer in the respectiveAnswerbox.
Your answers to the Self-Recovery security questions can contain up to a maximum of 99 characters and must be at least 7 characters long. Your answers cannot be in multiple languages, or languages or characters that are not supported. - ClickSave.
- In the confirmation dialog box, clickFinish.
