Dashboard Configuration
Dashboards provide a high-level view of the environment that is a user's responsibility or the user's team's responsibilities. A user can drill down to get details to understand what events or policies have been violated, and by whom. Custom dashboards can be designed for specific groups, and focus on specific areas of interest. They are created using the dashboard wizard.
Dashboards are contained in dashboard groups. The dashboard group names appear in the Dashboard section of
Symantec ICA
. Dashboard groups can be assigned to specific users or roles. All dashboards in a dashboard group are visible to the assigned user or role. Individual dashboards in a dashboard group cannot be hidden from some users and visible to other users. Adding a Dashboard Group or Folder
Dashboard groups and folders are used to organize dashboards. The dashboard group and folder names appear in the Dashboard section of
Symantec ICA
. A dashboard group has tabs for viewing the dashboards in the group. A dashboard folder lists the dashboards in the Dashboards navigation tree. A dashboard group contains dashboards. A dashboard folder contains groups, and folders. To create a dashboard group or folder, do the following:
- In theSymantec ICAAdministration section, selectDashboards, and then expandDashboards.
- ClickNew GrouporNew Folderto create a dashboard group or folder.
- Select an icon for the dashboard group or folder.
- Enter a name for the dashboard group or folder.
- Check theEnabledcheck box to enable the dashboard group or folder. Groups and folders that are not enabled are grayed out on the list of groups and folders, and do not appear in the Dashboards section.
- ClickSave.
Adding a Dashboard to a Dashboard Group or Folder
Dashboards are displayed in the order that they appear in a dashboard group or folder, unless a dashboard is set as the default dashboard. Dashboard administrators set the order of the dashboards, dashboard groups, and dashboard folders by dragging an item to the preferred location in the dashboard list. To add a dashboard, do the following:
Best practice is to open a browser tab for configuring the dashboard, and another tab for viewing the dashboard. This lets you work on the dashboard in one tab, and quickly see the updates in the other tab. You must refresh the browser on the second tab to see the updates.
- In theSymantec ICAAdministration section, selectDashboards, and then expandDashboards.
- Do one of the following:Dashboard Group or FolderDescriptionNew dashboard group
- Create the group.
- Right-click the new dashboard group, and then selectNew Dashboard.
New dashboard folder- Create the folder.
- Right-click the new dashboard folder, and add a group to the folder.
Existing dashboard group- Right-click the dashboard group.
- SelectNew Dashboard.
Existing dashboard folder- Right-click the dashboard folder, and add a group or select an existing group.
- Right-click the group, and selectNew Dashboard.
- Enter a name for the dashboard.
- (Optional) Check theIs Defaultcheck box to have the dashboard as the default for the group. The default is the first dashboard shown when the group is selected.
- Check theIs Enabledcheck box to enable the dashboard. Dashboards that are not enabled are grayed out, and do not appear in the Dashboards section.
- Select the type of dashboard. Options are Scorecard or Custom.Refer toAbout Scorecard Groups for information about scorecard groups, and About Custom Dashboards for information about adding custom dashboards
- (Scorecard dashboard only) Select the scorecard.
- (Scorecard dashboard only) Set the default view. Options are Summary, Detail, or Card.
- (Scorecard dashboard only) Set the period comparison mode. Options are Previous Period End Date and Previous Period Same Day.
- (Scorecard dashboard only) Select Compact Mode to reduce the size of the scorecard sections displayed in the browser.
- (Scorecard dashboard only) Select Sort Metric Sections by Display Order to have the scorecard sections display in the order set by their ordinal. Setting this option makes the sections appear always in the same order on the scorecard.
- (Scorecard dashboard only) ClickSaveto save the dashboard.
- (Custom dashboard only) ClickLaunch Editor.
- (Custom dashboard only) Configure the dashboard as described in Using the Dashboard Wizard.
- Click the dashboard name, and set its location in the dashboard group by dragging the dashboard to the preferred location.
- (Optional) Refresh the second browser window to see the new dashboard. A tab for the dashboard appears when the dashboard group is selected in the Dashboards section.
Editing a Dashboard
To edit a dashboard, do the following:
- In theSymantec ICAAdministration section, selectDashboards, and then selectDashboards.
- Right-click the dashboard name, and selectEdit.
- Edit the dashboard, as needed.
- ClickSaveto save your changes.
Cloning a Dashboard
To clone a dashboard, do the following:
- In theSymantec ICAAdministration section, selectDashboards, and then selectDashboards.
- Right-click the dashboard name, and selectClone.
- ClickYesto confirm, orNoto cancel. The cloned dashboard can be modified and moved, as needed.
Deleting a Dashboard
To delete a dashboard, do the following:
- In theSymantec ICAAdministration section, selectDashboards, and then selectDashboards.
- Right-click the dashboard name, and selectDelete.
- ClickYesto confirm the deletion, orNoto cancel the deletion.
Importing Dashboards
Dashboards are imported in to
Symantec ICA
using the XML code for the dashboard. To import dashboards, do the following:
- Copy the XML for the dashboard.
- In theSymantec ICAAdministration section, selectDashboards, and then selectDashboardsor a dashboard folder.
- ClickImport. The import window appears.
- Paste the XML text for the dashboard, and clickUpload.
Exporting Dashboard Folders or Groups
To export a dashboard folder or group, do the following:
- In theSymantec ICAAdministration section, selectDashboards.
- SelectDashboards, the dashboard folder or the dashboard group.
- ClickExport.
- Copy the XML text, and then close the window.
- Save the copied text in a text file or import the copied XML text where you would like it to be used.
