About Protecting Mobile Devices
As part of the business/enterprise web security solution portfolio, the
Web Security Service
provides integration with the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) Mobile service. Because of threats, IT Security Admins are faced with challenges:
- How do I protect mobile devices?I want to ensure non-corporate devices be protected. Can corporate-managed devices be susceptible to the same web acceptance policies as on-premises devices?
- How do I gain visibility into possible mobile OS and application security vulnerabilities?I want to review and ensure that employees on their own devices are not accessing apps and sites that are known to be vulnerable.
- How do I know if corporate devices are connecting to suspicious Wi-Fi networks?I want a service that recognizes man-in-the-middle attacks, content manipulation, and so on.
Mobile Concept
Mobile devices are prevalent in the business arena and have actually become the preferred device for many employees. Furthermore, specialized apps are becoming essential for business. Because of this, more and more companies are distributing smart phones and tablets rather than laptops to their employees, especially those who travel a lot or whose jobs are not tied to desks. Then there is the challenge of employees who bring their mobile devices (known as Bring Your Own Device or BYOD) into the corporate environment, which creates a security risk because such devices are able to connect to the internet through satellite networks (4G/LTE) rather than through the corporate egress point. Employees access assets, such as corporate mail and other sensitive intellectual property, transmit in the clear. Acceptable web use policies are not enforceable.

The infographic highlights how mobile devices are susceptible to major threats. Many people believe that the iOS is relatively safe from malware, but XcodeGhost is iOS malware. How many are aware that

can be used to inject malware? The mobile tasks as listed on the
