Design for overlapping (duplicate) IP networks

Together, the
IP Manager
and the
Global Manager
allow service providers who offer managed IP network services to centrally manage the private IP networks of customers who use identically-numbered IP address spaces. Enterprise users facing similar issues due to acquisitions of new networks can also use this ability. Appendix D, “Managing Overlapping IP Networks,” provides more information about managing overlapping IP addresses.
IP tag filters enable the
IP Manager
to model overlapping IPv4 addresses. The
provides more information about the IP tagging feature and IP tag filters.
This functionality is needed with the IPv4 protocol. The IPv6 protocol avoids duplicate IP addresses.
