Summary of root-cause problems and events

diagnoses root-cause problems and detects (computes) events from status updates acquired in the following ways:
  • By subscribing to BGP-relevant status updates from
    IP Availability Manager
  • By using SNMP polling to gather status information from the BGP-enabled devices
  • By extracting status information from SNMP traps that are issued by the BGP-enabled devices
  • By extracting status information from syslog messages that are issued by the BGP-enabled devices
correlates these events to diagnose root-cause problems.
Events used as symptoms to diagnose a root-cause problem can also be perceived as impacts that are caused by the problem.
    The
    Global Manager
    imports:
  • All problems that are diagnosed by
    .
  • Key events that are detected by
    .
The root-cause problem notifications (one problem per notification) and the event notifications (one event per notification) are displayed in the
    Global Console
    .
    In
, the range of notification for Cisco BGP-enabled devices in IPv6 network is limited. This is because the discovery and monitoring mechanism of Cisco BGP-enabled devices is CLI-based and not SNMP-based. The IPv6 notifications generated for Cisco devices are indicated in summary-of-root-cause-problems-and-events.html#GUID-276137BF-6948-4BEF-A421-B527744F6535-en__NPM_BGP_USER_ELEMENTS_82295 and summary-of-root-cause-problems-and-events.html#GUID-276137BF-6948-4BEF-A421-B527744F6535-en__NPM_BGP_USER_ELEMENTS_40962 against those notifications.
