Full discovery

During the initial full discovery, the
MPLS Topology Server
component of
populates its repository with router and switch topology from
IP Availability Manager
, and then probes the devices to discover MPLS, VPN, and (optional) BGP topology. The initial full discovery occurs when an
IP Availability Manager
is added as a source to the
MPLS Topology Server
, as explained in “Initiating discovery” on page 125.
Thereafter, whenever an
IP Availability Manager
source completes a discovery (an initial discovery, a full discovery, a pending discovery, or a single-device discovery), the
MPLS Topology Server
performs a discovery as described in “Topology synchronization” on page 126.
